For $40 (no contracts) you get unlimited calls & text, 15GB data, 100 international minutes to 50 countries, free Apple Music streaming, and unused data rollover. Enjoy :)

    Very nice. I was happy with Boost but switch direct to Telstra for $39pm. For same allowance but not international mins but that took plenty of work on live chat and its 12 month plan.

          Confirmed with their Live Chat. Only the $10 recharge is 7 days. The rest is for 28 days.

          Edit: Seems to still be 28 day expiry when recharging through the app or #111#. I guess someone must have made a mistake when updating the website?

          There's no reference to the $20 unlimited calls/text plus 1GB data plan on the main website anymore (link). It's now $20 for 2.5GB but 7 day expiry.

          Presumably it'll still be possible to recharge $20 and get 1GB for 28 days if you're currently on the Anytime Plus offer and have auto recharge set up, although it's obvious that they're trying to push low usage customers onto a $30 minimum spend month-to-month.

      Boost doesnt have plans, they offer a monthly service that can change from month to month.

      If you are recharging with $40 then you will get what the website says for $40 today.

        Not correct. You choose an 'offer' and you stay on that offer until choose a new one. You can still recharge on the old 'offer'. The old offer/plans just become grandfathered. If you choose a new offer, then you can't go back to the old one.

          One thing to note is you now need to change your offer after your current monthly recharge has expired. This is because the change used to only take effect at your next recharge whereas now it takes effect immediately. This means you loose the remaining entitlements in the current month you had paid for i.e. unlimited calls and text.

          Source: I changed my offer yesterday and it cut off my calls and text even though I had 12 days left on my $40 recharge. Took over an hour of talking to their online rep yesterday to get my 12 days back. They really need to change it back to only taking effect at your next recharge.

    Does that mean it's now using 4GX too? Last time I was on Boost it had recently started offering 4G but not the faster 4GX in metro areas. I'll switch as soon as my current plan runs out if so.

      4GX is a Telstra marketing term and it is not well defined. Some think it means LTE over 700mhz. Others think it has to do with speed, or carrier aggregation.

      There are people posting high speed LTE speed tests from Boost (much faster than the 50mbps quoted in the link). There are also people commenting that their Boost phone did not have coverage where Telstra services (same handset bands) otherwise had coverage.

      In short - I wouldn't assume Boost has access to the entire Telstra mobile network. I also do not think that Boost speeds are capped (or if they are capped, people do not seem to notice).

      Yes gone, it used to be 4GB for the month plus 1GB per weekend (so ~8GB of data per month)
      Now it is 15GB for the whole month (with rollover), better for me.

        I use to get the 3GB +1GB every weekend for $30/month, so paying an extra $10 for another 8GB of data with rollover is a no brainer haha

    Woolworths Mobile has 15GB data (data bank up to 15GB), unlimited Aussie calls/SMS, unlimited calls to 10 counties, $100 for premium calls and other OS calls. All for $40.50 for 30 days. It's on the Telstra Wholesale network which for most people is exactly the same.

    Recharge vouchers are even cheaper when using discounted wish egift cards. Effectively only $38.48.

      There's new plans coming mid-march and early april for prepaid which will hopefully increase data allowances even more :)

        What kinds of speeds are you getting with each network?

        I'm still on a grandfathered Telstra Freedom Plus plan. I still have $250 of credit. Even though I can't purchase any apps or movies with it anymore, some ebooks still work, so I'm hesitant to give that up (for now).

        Definitely different network but I don't think speeds are capped. I doubt it would ever make a difference to general use.

          It's complicated. Originally we worked out that Boost does indeed use the full network despite what their staff say, but now there's a thread discussing network differences where more and more people are saying that two identical devices, one with a Telstra sim and one with a Boost sim are having coverage differences.

          With every new report of people swapping their telstra sim with a boost sim and suddenly losing coverage, It's starting to look more and more like boost might not have full coverage after all, but there's not enough info to definitely say that yet.

      Boost uses the full Telstra network.

      You DO get 4GX coverage, but it is capped at 50mpbs

        Also wrong, I've gotten close to 300mbps on Boost.

        Unless you're suggesting that 50mbps is on 700mhz only, in which case that won't affect most people because even a lot of smaller regional towns have more than just 700mhz.

          @spaceflight: Nobody actually knows what Telstra calls 4GX aside from Telstra themselves. It SEEMS to be 700mhz, but it could also be something more complex than that (MIMO or 256QAM within their 700mhz network). It's definitely related to 700mhz.

          It's entirely possible that they do cap 700mhz to 50mbps, but as mentioned even small towns have 1800mhz, and you won't find a city or big urban area without 2600mhz on top of the other two bands, so the 700mhz cap really doesn't make that much of a difference unless they live close to town in a really rural area and are lucky enough to have a non congested tower that can actually do more than 50mbps.

        I don't think this is correct. I believe you need to opt in to this new plan via #111#, otherwise you remain on the previous offer until such time as you do opt in.

      Ovo would probably get you 150 minutes a month, which is not quite what you are after. Optus, Telstra and Vodafone are the only networks available until TPG uses its spectrum.

    How does this work, does it simply give you two/three extra days for free?

    Does it also work for any of the other 28 day recharges? I always do a manual recharge, I didn’t realise there was better value in the auto recharge.

      You simply add a credit card to your Boost account and select a recharge day (eg. 15th). Auto-recharge then withdraws the monthly amount from your credit card on the same day of each month ie. March 15th, April 15th, May 15th etc.

    Just gotta wait for a $20 for the $40 Sim deal that they run and I'll be jumping straight to this.

    After just getting back from holidays in Tassie with my wife's phone on full Telstra and mine on aldi with Telstra wholesale, the full Telstra was night and day better while we were travelling around. So many times she had enough service to use internet where I had nothing at all. Identical phones.

    Does anyone know how you can change to the new offer as an existing as an existing customer? The instructions say to go to My Offer in the app, but that doesn't give you an option to change the offer. Maybe it's not available for existing customers yet…

      I changed at care.boost.com.au on the phone. I don't have the app (because I'm one of the 7 people left in the world with a Windows phone).
      Be aware that if you change, you lose your current credit / recharge, so don't change until the end of your recharge cycle. Change the day before (mine was today and I got charged for my existing $30 recharge plus the new $20 recharge and had to get the $30 credited on live chat).

        Thanks for the info — it seems I was confused, my current offer is the "Boost Anytime Plus" $30 for 4GB, but the new offer seems to be called exactly the same thing, just with more data etc. So I assume I don't have to do anything, and when I auto-recharge for $30 next month it'll automatically give me 5GB instead of my old 4GB data allowance.

    I’m an existing Boost customer, recharged $40 the day before this deal came out. I gave them a call and whilst they couldn’t give me the 15GB they did add 5GB to this month, so not bad.

    I'm on the old $30 plan. 4gb data plus 1gb every weekend. That's up to 7gb vs the 5gb they are now offering.
