Update 17/12: Deal is over. VF has run out of stock. Congrats and Merry Christmas to those who scored! :)

<del>MOD: According to users on pg5, the deal has been reinstated.</del>

<del>Update: Deal is finished. Repayment is now back to $30. :( Good luck to those who have ordered, though!</del>

OK, per request from the other HTC Legend thread…

If you’re a member of one of the motoring clubs (NRMA, RACV, etc), you
might want to check out Vodafone. They currently have the HTC Legend for $0 repayment on their 12-month $29 cap.

Navigate to the link below:

http://store.vodafone.com.au/handset-htc-legend.aspx?company…

Then select '12 month'.

By my calculation, your min cost over 12 months should be (after 10% discount and 3 months free access):

$29 * 10% off * 9 months = $234.9

(plus, possibly, $84 moneybackco cashback for those who managed)

Which is outstanding value for a pocketable Android 2.2 phone with such strong specs. And it comes with a cap with 200mb data!

Be warned, though, that Voda’s customer service (or the lack of it, really) is shocking! Have a look at discussions on whirlpool!

    • true, but still an ok deal i guess, if you can get it for 29 a month even without the extra

  • -2

would the phone be locked to vodafone's network??

    • +1

Pls read all the post from beginning. Unlock is free. Quoted from whirlpool forum.

  • so did you guys agree to transfer your number(port it over)?

i am not an existing vodafone customer

    • yeah, I chose to port my number over, I hope if they cancel they do it before porting it over to prevent a lot of frustration for me ;)

  • Just Ordered 1 for my wife chrissy present , hopefully it's working..

  • My two exisiting optus contract just expired this month. This comes in perfect time. Ordered two and let's see how it goes. Yes, have to say it's a crazy price.

  • I can't get in through the link, or the nrma website. I have tried through 3 different browsers and no luck. Is anyone else having problems?

    • Just tested link still working fine.

      • Thanks, but still not working for me. Trying to call them now.

  • Wtf, I just bought the phone on the $49 cap with voda….

Just a heads up, the phone is amazing, but reception is horrible. I haven't confirmed whether it's vodafone or the HTC, but my research suggests it could be the phone. They've had some complaints about its antenna. I have never had a message been undelivered in my life until now, and at least 50% of my messages are undelivered now. I was a Three customer before, but before then I was on Vodafone (and never had this problem) so it could be the phone.

    • wow that sounds bad

    • I have an unlocked Legend on Optus prepaid and an iPhone 4 on Vodaphone plan and I have no problems with the Legend, while the iPhone definitely has 3G issues. Of course, this is just my personal experience but it definitely appears to be a network issue.

  • Hi guys, i tried to trace my order but it wont recognise my details. Copied it from email sent by vodafone, still wont accept it? Anyone else having issues?

    • working for me…

      • Not for me.. Strange

        • for HPstar, i foundout.
DO NOT copy pasted your order #, type it manually, then put your email.
          works for me now.

    • worked for me:
      15/12/2010 02:37 PM Order Incomplete
15/12/2010 02:54 PM Order being processed

Not sure what the incomplete part is all about.

  • Save this for future ref. :)

      minimum cost $3481 ???

      • LOL don't scare me. It's $348¹, sorry it was copy & paste give that extra digit.

        • mine had only calls for 180 dollars :(

    • Wait, so what is THIS?

    • I have no freaking idea where this is. Link please :)

      • that's what it says when you look at the cap in the cart just before you buy

  • Pls excuse me i don't mean to be rude but tonight i'm loving u
Btw i think i know why it is this cheap, it's because Australia r losing the Ashes

    • and they sponsor michael clarke as his bat sponsor

  • Guys, I'm told this is a slow moving line at Vodafone due to customers who seems to prefer Desire, Desire HD and Samsung Galaxy over these things. As such, I see no reason why this deal is not legit

    • +3

      This is one reason:

      12 month $49 cap = $20 handset repayment
      12 month $69 cap = $10 handset repayment
      12 month $29 cap = $0? Not bloody likely.

      • true……

  • I am wandering, I have ported my number. What will happen, if they dont respect this deal. Will they still port my no.? Hope, I am not stuck without any no.

    • ur number will move across to vodafone only once they ship out and after u call to activate

      • Thanks xavierdylan. Thats a relief.

        • you can still port if you didnt select yes i want to port at that time? someone was mentioning there is a fee if you ported online vs call them once you receive your phone etc.

        • not true. you can port at any time. i know some1 who did it. no wait. i did it for some1. so it can be done. For FREE. at any time. You just have to speak to some1 who knows what they are doing.

  • Just ordered. Strange that there is no final confirmation / review page. Somehow managed a typo by having my surname show up twice (eg firstname lastname lastname) in the order… Hope that doesn't complicate the order…

    • It's not just me that thinks this weird then!
I've accidentally ordered 2 phones because there was no review!

I was really just going through the process to see if there was a catch somewhere. Didn't realise what an awesome deal it was until well after I'd accidentally bought!

      • Funny enough, I had the exactly same experience as you. I ended up with 2 phone orders. Don't know what to do. Maybe trying to cancel one of them

  • I have just ordered through the call centre in Tas. The woman I spoke to was very friendly and confirmed payment of $26ish per month.

    • chloden, just wondering if you signed up for 12 months or 24 months? Since the 24 months contract at $29 is "normal".

      • 12 months

        • Maybe you will be the only one on here that who will be getting it :)

  • I've signed up, see how it goes. I hope they can honor the deal.

  • +1

I just went through the website, with the motor deal thing. They've changed it to $29 cap with $30 repayment per month on the 12 month plan.

Bargain gone, not sure if they'll honor any of the orders you guys went through >.<

Theres is no longer an add to cart button anymore…

UPDATE: Now it says 'out of stock'….

    • +1

someone predicted that "out of stock" ;)

    • i had mine in the cart and processed the order after your comment

  • deal has gone. now it is $29 + $30 handset repayment fee. minimum per month is $59 now.

  • Will we all get the "deal" oh sonlucky i did order it thus morning 00.15am lol

  • +1

I placed order last night. the deal is too good to be true, but no harm to try, right?

    • just wondering guys if any of u managed to have a status of processed on your order?

      • 15/12/2010 01:07 PM Order Incomplete

15/12/2010 09:50 PM Order being processed

  • The deal is gone. Now you need to pay 30 dollars more per month on a 12 months contract. I hope they will honor the deal instead of doing something doggy.

    • I have a feeling Vodaphone either
-just keep quite and pretend nothing ever happened, so all order will be stuck at being processed.
-OR processed the order and start charging $30 on top of monthly cap.

      :)

      • I will go to Fair Trading for that if they dare to charge me $30 more a month without telling me.

  • +9

Good new is VF is likely to honour this, just got an email says my credit check has past, and gave me an account number. So the process is heading forward, hopefully will get delivery soon.

    • Greate news!

      • Fantastic!

Lucky I ordered mine in the wee hours of the morning

    • Cool

    • When did you place your order?

      • yesterday at 12:14 the order was placed (I only know because I read the post, you should try it too ;)

        • Well I placed my oder on 15/12/10 about 4pm our time and according to Vodafone it was 02:01pm

    • Just got the same email.

  • Just got the transaction added in my MoneyBackCo account, fingers crossed:-)

    • how, you could not get to it with the MBC link?

      • You don't need to actually order via the MBC link. I figure it works in the Cookies or something, so i just opened one link via MBC, so it is remembered in Cookie, then open the motor club link and ordered one.

        • Hehe I got mine registered too…

          Transactions snapshot
$84.00 from Vodafone Handsets tracking on 15-Dec-2010

        • I might get lucky, I went through MBC first and then when I couldn't get the deal from there, I used the link here on OzB. Fingers crossed :)

  • Sounds like they're going through, but I made a booboo on my application which means I have to resubmit an application..
Which as we know is now not possible.
    F%^%ck!!

  • by my calculations if all 4000 click throughs ordered, and vodafone miss out on $30 a month for 12 months, thats 1.4million dollars….

    • Don't worry, I have contributed 100 clicks to this thread, probably even more, so if in average whoever replied in this thread came back for 20 times, that would be about 2000 clicks, and this helps VF to cut the loss under $700k. I am sure they can afford this, lol.

      • no the click counter is for clicks originating from different ip/login.

        you only contributed 1 click.

    • The assumption isn't right. I clicked this deal more than 10 times (at least), but only ordered one:-)

    • i am sure vodafone wont make a loss on a phone that is pretty outdated compared to the newer phone on the market. plus they are probably hoping you go over ur cap or move to a higher cap or take out additional data plans. thats where they will make their money. kinda like sony not making profit of their ps3 console but making money off the games.

      • If each click was 1 customer, then they gain 4000 customers… many of which may stay on for quite some time

        • I just want to get the phone and put my sim in.

  • -2

Great. For me i want unlock it then payoff $26.. X9mnths asap.
Then sell the phone on ebay. Easy peasy

    • +1

don't you have anyone who can use the credit, a younger responsible family member perhaps?

It feels like you are not taking full advantage if you don't use the credit, then again this may save voda a little more money

      • it saves them little to no money. the network is already in place. and additional customer generally wont cost more . they use their existing infrastructure and telco agreements. Thats why carriers benefit by having more customers sharing the same network.

  • I think your order is successful because your name is Mily Cyrus :)

  • o damn i missed out last night coz i cudn't find the 12 month plan, n now i jst found it =(

o well looks like i at least saved money for now =)

    • +2

      Opportunity costs man… opportunity costs.

Vodafone is probably sitting around deciding what to do with all these orders - Honour them and make a (presumable) loss or dishonour them and lose even more credibility

    • I'm kicking myself for missing out too. My favourite HTC phone. :(

      • I know how you feel… I spent all of last night deciding… ended up not ordering it.

        (sigh)….

        • same here, thought they won't honor the deal anyway but…geez I need a prozac.

I just received a call from Vadaphone, asking if I did want two phones or just one because I ordered two for two different numbers. The lady was very nice, and didn't mention anything about the monthly price. She told me that they will do credit check and then ship out the mobiles if I pass the credit check. It seems that they are going to honour it.

      • do you know if they will be shipping it out today?

        • +1

Edited: She said the shipment won't happen until Monday because it's from the warehouse. Considering many steps involved, I'll be very happy if it is shipped monday.

      • When did you place your order?

        • Late last night, about 9PM.

  • How do we check the progress? Thanks.
