  • Pretty good specs. Looks metal and that it has hinges that allow folding the screen right around to use it like a tablet.

    • Pretty sure it can't be used like a tablet. None of the pictures on Dell website show this use.

    • you cant fold the screen around in this model

      • Ok, I was just going by what the hinges look like and comparing it to another brand I handled recently that did. Yeah, they would show it if you could.

Latitudes are business-class devices and are built a fair bit tougher than the Inspiron models. They also usually have better cooling, include water/dust ingress protection and are drop-tested, although I can't find any data on this particular model. In any case, it's likely to last a long time.

  • Don't recommend dell refurbished laptops .

Thought I'd mention this as it is not clear whether this is refurbished by Dell and sold by grays or refurbished by grays and sold by grays - there may be a difference on warranty if it's the latter.

TLDR: consider that it might be 3 month warranty.

Guys this has been mentioned on other deals from grays online that the warranty may only be 3 months.

I purchased one of the AMD A8 Lenovo laptops from the last eBay 20% off sale and it came with laptop and power supply only in Buble wrap and an a4 page explaining the warranty to be 3 months - even though the ebay listing (which I've screencapped) as well as the auction on grays site clearly stated 12 month warranty through grays. As a refurb it has no Lenovo warranty.

I have not dug deeper to confirm if it is the 3 months or 12 months and I'm sure you'd get some support through accc, but it might be more of a hassle.

Just something to consider and in no way reflects my opinion on the value of either deal. I'm quite happy with mine for $200 and this seems like a reasonable price if it's what you want, but as it's a sizeable purchase it might pay to confirm or consider this.

  • No optical drive! Why?

    • When was the last time you used one? It's a business laptop too, usually software is distributed over the network in businesses.

      • Last week. But then I do not have a business network.

        • Well there you go guess they still get some good use. I haven't used any form of disc in a few years. Now that I bought an Xbox one I will for games, but haven't had need for one.

  • Three months warranty is a big concern given the price

  • NVIDA(R) GeForce 940MX Discrete Graphics with Thunderbolt

What does it mean "with Thunderbolt"? I didn't know gpu can have Thunderbolt.

    • It means that you can plug in an external gpu that support Thunderbolt for additional graphics processing power.

  • The picture shows what looks like a sim card slot. Does it have 4G LTE capabilities?

    • I can confirm it doesn't have 4G.
