Cheapest way to get Osim?

Hi,

I'm in the market for a Osim uLove (or even uInfinity - but doesn't seem to be sold in Australia anymore). I've tried Inada dreamwave, duet but the massage was too soft for my liking (loved materials and craftmanship though).

I was quoted $7800 plus 5yr warranty and free delivery. I was actually ready to get one until I saw how much it costs in Singapore (au$5000).

Does anybody know how to get the cheapest price on uLove?

Thanks!

  • Impossible here but shipping price (and risk of damage) is exorbitant. That being said I have heard of people buying in Singapore and shipping it in a crate directly.

As an OSIM uMagic owner (I ordered mine in Singapore when I lived there and shipped it to Sydney when I moved back), it's a great massage chair and it's awesome watching Foxtel getting a back/foot massage after work… but I did have some initial reliability issues which required the system logic board and motors to be checked and replaced (burning smell!) and if you bought it overseas, I doubt the Australian distributor will entertain your need for assistance.

    • Yes, that's what concerns me. Ive heard a few reliability issues on Osim and if I buy from Singapore I doubt Osim Australia will fix any problems.

      • Yep, and even in Singapore they were pretty lethargic/slow at responding to my concerns over burning smells in the first 6 months of ownership.

The software updates/downloads are rubbish - when I bought it they told me there would be regular free updates/new programs… lo and behold, first one was free, everything else cost money and the iOS app even tries to steer you to random payment site so you don't buy it using iTunes credit. Not the end of the world but I wouldn't trust a dodgy unknown internet company with my CC. That, and the downloadable programs were not anything special that you couldn't really get just by customising the settings yourself.

Compared to other OGAWA chairs, and a few other questionable looking brands which existed in Singapore (these things are popular there), OSIM is still the most reputable and trusted of them all, but it's a low base. I'm pretty sure the gross margin on these chairs is ridiculous to help cover the cost of having stores in nearly every shopping mall (both big and small) in Singapore and staff being paid on commission (I know it's decent because one staff even said she'd use some of the commission from our sale to buy us some other items we happened to be looking at in the department store!).

I must emphasise though, despite the negativity above, the massage is still pretty good and whilst it wasn't cheap at $5k (not counting how much it cost to ship it back to Australia!) it is a good thing to have in the apartment and I greatly enjoy using it.

        • Thanks a lot. I actually tried Ogawa today (which looked like uLove) but it wasn’t good at all. Also, the sales lady said $8000 is the best she could do.
I guess I have to bite the bullet and get uLove in Australia..

        • @tyvod: Last time i was in singapore, i was quoted SGD$700 shipping inc insurance (delivery to doorstep - perth). Don't forget you get tax 10% GST importing item over AUD $1000.

        • @Akks13: Were you able to negotiate on the advertised price? And what about warranty in Australia?
I bought mine last Sunday for 7600 including shipping and 5 yr warranty. I think I should have bought it in Singapore.. Could have saved around 2k

          • @tyvod: Hi where in Australia were you offered this price?

            thanks

        • @tyvod: It's was less than SGD$5000 just for the chair. Shipping SGD$700 I can't remember about warranty. You should be able to claim GST for exporting the massage chair out of singapore.

  • Just out of interest how much is the inada dreamware?

    • I think it was around 9500 plus 200 shipping fee. I asked for a discount but was told Inada doesn't offer a discount?
Personally I liked Duet better than Dreamwave.

      • Cheers for the reply
