All TVs listed are seconds/refurbished, just as a heads up.

  • +1

Prices are so misleading. Why would anyone buy refurbished at the full RRP?

  • I am bit worried about buying refurbished one, has anyone had sony refurbished tv before?

    • +1

Do not do it. Just buy it brand new from a sale. The stock are from customers who had warranty issues. I returned a X93D because there was a screen issue. It is probably being offloaded now as refurbished.

      • Your logic doesn't make sense, are you insinuating that they would be selling defective units? Isn't that the whole points of refurbished items?

        • Items get repaired then sold as refurbished.

        • @PlushToys:

And what is wrong with that?

        • +1

@Lorindor: up to you if you do not find anything wrong. The condition of the item will vary and you are basically going into a lottery.

    just sharing:
story title is "3 months of suffering with Sony"

a year ago bought soundbar -
worked for 3 weeks, then dead.
repaired for a week and half, arrived dead plus one pin broken.
repaired for another week, arrived works 2 weeks, dead again
repeat one more repair and dead cycle in just 3 weeks period
this time asked for full refund, they refused and wanted to repair (for the 4th time!)
i said i will complain to fair trading sony said please go ahead we cant give it.
went to fair trading, they melt like butter in summer and i got my $ back in full.

beware of sony repair warranty service. they used 3rd party to repair.
    never again.

    • When you mean third party, they are not authorised repairers?

      • oh sorry authorised by sony of course but not sony name, just some repair company doing jobs for many manufacturers.

    • I had no issues with Sony when I had intermittent network problem with a Refurb blu-ray player, bought from their ebay store. I was offered a refund first go and sent prepaid satchel.

      • Okay maybe small value items. Mine worth over $800 brand new.

Does anyone know how the KD55X7000E compares to the Hisense 55N7? This is fairly cheap and still seems to offer 4K and HDR10, just isn't 100hz?

  • +1

This does not seem to be a good value proposition.
$200 more you can get a new 65n7 with 3 years warranty.

    • I was looking at the 65N7, do you know what is the maximum brightness of this TV? Hoping to get it below $1,500

  • beware of their online ebay store.

  • Their eBay store sucks donkey balls. I questioned them via eBay message why there is a lack of items and they ignored it.

    • i feel for this donkey u speak of… :(

    • Yes, I had a bad experience with their customer service. It feels only one person who's in charge of this and s/he is not even working full-time. When I called, I kept getting passed around. Avoid them if you can.

The worst part about the Sony eBay store is that they are too lazy and arrogant to give you some indication of the condition of their refurbished items. Not even a sliding scale from "as-new" to "fair", or if a TV has a scratch on the screen or a dead pixel.

I've complained before and this was their response:

Thanks for getting in touch. Due to the nature of our inventory, we can’t provide information or images regarding any particular item. Each item is sold in an “as-is” condition & whilst some products may have slight cosmetic issues, they are fully functional and this is reflected in the price. All products have been thoroughly tested by a Sony Authorised agent before being made available to purchase. We also back our products with our standard 12 month warranty.
We are unable to advise what seconds type (ex-demonstration, box damaged or manufacturer refurbished) a particular product is, and In the case of refurbished units, we are unable to advise what (if any) of the original issues were.

What a crock of sheit. So all I know is that the item is "fully functional"? Wow thanks, seeing I wasn't after a broken one!

Sony apparently have no idea what condition their own products are in, which have likely come from their own licensed 3rd party repairer and that are now probably in Sony's possession! They act like a they are selling someone else's brand and the stock is in an inaccessible warehouse in Columbia guarded by a drug cartel. On top of that their store prices aren't cheap for refurbs. I personally would spend a couple hundred more for a new unit because if they are this bad selling their own refurbs, imagine what a warranty claim would be like… Just my 2c…

  • its a lucky draw with Sony. A couple of times the product has been brand new. Box in perfect condition too. Other times has it has definitely been a repair and return. Had one item which was defective.
I do know they do get rid of brand new excess stock under seconds/refurbished so as not to piss off the retailers.
Also for a camera that was defective and was definitely a return, Sony gave the impression that there was no choice but to repair it first. Finally spoke to someone else and got them agree to a refund.
Generally their customer service sucks, even from their main site.

  • Sony used to have a reputation for quality (with inflated price).

Unfortunately the quality has gone, however the prices have stayed high.

Sony is just a FOUR LETTER WORD THAT STARTS WITH 'S' - like the other word we all know….

Previous purchase from this site was disappointing.

  • Has the KD55X7000E just increased from $819 to $899?

  • Sony have added the KD55X7000D to their store. 4K + HDR10.

This also does 4K at 60hz, while I believe the newer/more expensive 7000E does 4K at 50hz. Also this is Android while the 7000E is Linux.

$676 after both discounts and CashRewards!

2 left, just bought one myself!

  • Thanks, just bought the SONY KD65X9300E 65" for $2,034.04 delivered.

    • Was able to use PODIUM code and get it for $1,926.99

      • Yeah I bought it at this price but Toll have lost the TV!!! They are starting an investigation to try and find it. FFS

        • Well a month later and my TV has died twice with the exact same error after less than 24 hours of being in working order. It was repaired yesterday and dies again today. So fail Sony.

Did anyone else have issues with their refurbs?
