I have not read anything on Nightwing but am intrigued with his character is this a good start?
Nightwing is a long running character in the DC universe, so he has quite a bit of history, and there are some things that carry across from his previous runs into this one.
Having said that the Rebirth #1 issue (contained in this collection) does a really good job of closing off some of the previous runs stories, and setting up a new direction for the book.
You won't get the context of some of the stories in this run, but it really shouldn't harm your enjoyment of the series - for the price that it is I'd definitely say give it a shot, I think you'll like it.
