$10 Voucher When You Sign up with Howard Storage Inspirations

71

I'm surprised no one has posted this. Go to any HSW store and register for a card. An email will be sent to you to activate the card and you will get a $10 voucher to spend in store. In addition, I was given a really nice blue, waterproof HSW shopping bag :)

  • From my experience HSW is the most overpriced storage shop I've ever seen. They charge $30 for things that can be purchased for $20 at Myer in the same shopping centre, or $10 at the discount shop. I couldn't believe they wanted $99 for a wine rack that was identical to a $30 one for sale at another shop in Bondi Junction. They had some decent looking shoe racks and wanted $80 each for them, but I found something very similar at Moore Park Supacentre for $30 each. I won't neg because maybe it's only the Bondi Junction store that rips people off, but just make sure you're not being overcharged. You might be better off forgetting about the $10 voucher and going to a shop down the street to save $20, $40, $70+.

OK I changed my mind, I'm negging this. After looking through a few pages of their online catalogue, it's quite clear they are rip-off merchants. They're selling 50L roller storage boxes for $22.95 each, Supercheap Auto regularly discount them to 3 for $20 (usual price is $11 each anyway). Various clothes racks they are selling for $200+ can be purchased for less than $100 at Kmart. Roller trolleys HSW are selling for $59.95 I've purchased before at Kmart for $30 and they were the same quality as the ones sold at HSW, I also bought one for $15.95 at a discount store and it's still going fine five years later.

If their stuff was particularly well designed, looked amazing, was made from some special Italian marble or wood the price might be justifiable, but it's just the same bog-standard stuff you find at Kmart, Ikea or the Reject Shop, nothing special at all.

Just this product alone is almost Monster Cable overpriced:

My mother works in a clothes store and her shop fittings are almost identical to this rack, but each separate component costs $5-$10 each, meaning what you see in the photo could be purchased for under $200, but they're charging over $1,100!! For that price you could have a custom-made built-in which wouldn't look like a store fitting at the Reject Shop (I'm not knocking the Reject Shop, love the place, I'm just saying that for $1,100 bucks I'd want something else!)

These are $89.95 at HSW, they're $12.95 at the discount store half a block away.

It's like an Ikea for people who think Ikea is too cheap and want to pay quadruple the price for the same thing.
