Any age minimum? I know a primary school kid that wants to open a bank account.

    • Westpac Choice for full-time tertiary (postsecondary) students

    • The how-it-works page says 12 years or older to open one of these accounts.

    • I think the first link says any student. I’m going to open one for my daughter in prep.

Is their identification require a bank visit, or online?

Bank visit isn’t worth the money….

    • Online should be fine, unless they can’t verify you or have no records of you under a credit agency I assume, which means a bank branch visit

    • bank visit, student/kids IDs don't seem to verify online.

      • Bank visit is clunky.
forms, forms, forms. Does westpac realise it's 2018 yet?
        account opening form.
link account to card form, seriously! how else is it going to get used.
        third party access form, furk.

  • Could I open one for my infant daughter ?

    • +1

      If she's a student

      • +41

if she was recently born, maybe she can be classified as "newly arrived to australia"

        • +3

knowing NAB they be like well shes been living in her dads ball sack

        • @DIVISIONX: Nah, sperm only live up to 1 week in there, so should still be new enough.

  • +1

Why does online ID verification never (profanity) work for me ffs

    • +4

      Same here. Up yours Equifax.

  • +5

So what if I open the account, meet the requirements to get the $50, and then once I receive it, decide to close the account, what fee's or charges or anything is there stopping me from doing so?

    • +1

No, except giving up your time

  • Great. I'm eligible for the $50 and the free ISIS card as I'm a full time student.

    • +26

ISIS has found a new way to get recruits.

    • +5

You might want to keep that to yourself

I’m assuming westpac is unrelated to st George

    • +6

Why would you assume that? You are wrong.

    Whats an ISIC card?

Does anyone know if we can apply for both westpac and st.george and get both $50? I know st.george is now merge with westpac.

  • +4

What about a student of life?

  • +5

Hm, my old student ID doesn't have an expiry date on it… I wonder if Westpac would accept it as a form of verification that I'm a student?

  • How long do I need to leave the $250 in before I put it back in my account and give my daughter her card?

  • +4

Nice deal but OMG Westpac and StGeorge's online banking system is so last decade.
The App is slow and they still make you use mouseclicks to enter netbanking pw on their desktop site.

    • +4

Yep, hands down the worst internet banking Ive ever used. A lot of banks could take tips from Macquarie, easily the best internet banking.

      • +1

+1 Using Westpac for my business banking is one of the 2 only regrets I have in my life.
Until a couple of years ago, they only gave you 6 months worth of statements! The customer service in-branch is also the worst!

  • +1

Maybe highlight the up to 55 days to get the $50?

  • +1

How do we get the ISIC card? I've deposited my $250.

  • Anyone know if you need to keep the $250 in the account until the $50 is received? Or can I withdraw it before then? T&C doesn't say it needs to stay in there but other comments above suggests you need to keep the money in there for 56 days?

  • I’m over 21, how would they know if I’m a local tertiary full time student? There wasn’t anything related to my student status in the sign up process

    • Take your ID and visit a branch to verify.

  • No Apple Pay
    No NPP

  • +1

has anyone actually got the 50 dollars yet?

  • how do you get the student card thing? did you guys leave the $250 in there till the $50 arrived? anyone got the $50 by now?

    • No $50 for us yet. I am leaving the $250 in the accounts until the $50 turns up.

This is the first account I've opened that hasn't automatically sent out a card. I was wondering why we hadn't received anything so rang them and was told you have to apply for a card. They wouldn't do it over the phone so back down to the damn branch for us. The things you do for $50.

      • IKR I had the same issue, couldn't believe they didn't mention it when I took my daughter in to present her ID!

    • I got the student card through the link in the internet banking. It sent me over to the website to apply.

  • 55 days for me today. Still no bonus.

  • +1

55 days today, no bonus too. has anyone received theirs?

    • Got another 9 days to go. Was your deposit in there 55 days from today? Or just account opened?

      • 55 days from account opening. I've gone into a branch to verify ID and also deposited the $250

        • Any luck? I have a feeling Westpac might just … forget about their deal

        • @ejayt: just like that St. George student offer a few years ago…

        • +2

          @ejayt:

i called them up. i was told that after the 45 days, itll take up to 30 days to receive the money. seems like a load of crap considering it does say within 55 days of opening account

        • @tobi3421: gotta keep that interest

        • @stickyfingers:

Was also told that you can withdraw your $250 deposit so i've taken that out already

  • Received my $50 today. It said details about transaction coming out next business day.

    • Me too!

    • Got it too, transferred the $50 out already

  • Finally got it too, been hanging out for it. With it I purchased

    2xMcfeast deals from McD $10
    4xWoodstock and burbon (12%) members rewards $16
    6xOettinga German beers (500ml) $17

    And $7 AS CHANGE

Enjoying the proceeds as I type this

Hanging out for the ING one of $75 already!

  • I still haven't received mine yet :(

  • Nothing for me yet. Account opened March 1st.

  • Got mine finally. That was a lot of waiting
