Wake me up when it's around 300 dollars (I know, this is not LG. You know, the bootloop phones)… Joking aside, I like this phone. Uh, shiny… (somehow, shiny back looks appealing to me)…

    • +2

It's slippery as all hell, incredibly shiny and initially I thought it was a finger print magnet but I love it so much. xda forums have a healthy subforum for info

      • Yeah, I know. I wish it was already around 300 dollars. I would probably put this miniso holder on the back
https://youtu.be/kf5w_uT1Qts for a holder. It claims to be easily removable and washable.

You are not going to get a phone with these specs for $300…It has the same CPU and GPU as Pixel 2 and S8 and they are $800-900 phones. The Sony also has a 4k screen which adds to the premium.

        • +1

@touchmylemon: It is not Daydream VR supported and it is no Gear VR. What a waste to that CPU, GPU and 4k screen.

        • @coprocessor8087: not officially Daydream VR supported but work with root/magisk/pixeilfy

  • +1

It doesn't have the same CPU/gpu as the S8.
The only S8 that uses the SD835 is the US and China variants, everywhere else's uses the Samsung exynos 8895, including the Australian version.

Having said that, the SD835 in this XZ Premium is actually a better processor than the 8895 used in the Australian S8(source;Anandtech).

  • I wan't this phone but my Sony ultra is holding up perfect. Will pull the trigger at $500 though.

Does this have 2 year Australian warranty ?

  • This seller always jacks the price up when eBay has 20 or 15% off promotion . Watched another Xperia phone from them and observed for a while.

Anyway. My xperia z5c still goes strong except overheating sometimes for almost 2 yr use.

A few things worth adding to the overview:
    - Water resistant IP65/68
    - 4K HDR screeen (the first mobile phone to have this)
    - dual SIM (though this is mentioned in the title)
    - USB 3.1 to type C with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3
    - Bluetooth 5.0
    - A-GPS, A-Glonass, Beidou, Galileo
    - NFC
    - fingerprint scanner

  • Set one of these up yesterday for someone that got it from Telstra on a $59 x 24 month plan ($1416). Unlimited calls & sms, 2Gb data (not much, but will do her). Seems pretty zippy and yes, nice screen.

    • Seems like it's a lot cheaper to buy outright and go on a 365 day Kogan prepaid plan. That Telstra plan does not seem great for only 2GB data.

      • No. This is an older person not very savvy. Her only phone died, so she was at the mercy of 'the nice man at the Telstra shop'. Not a deal I would have chosen, but she could have been diddled worse than that.

        • If she was an elder person then that's different I guess. She probably doesn't need the extra data that Kogan offers. At least you didn't recommend an iPhone for her ^_^

        • I wasn’t involved in the purchase. Yes, 2gb is enough for her. Has nbn at home to get updates.
