Just FYI, there are strong rumours of a Mavic Pro 2 coming soon - i.e within the next two months - which supposedly has an upgraded image sensor and some more of the smarts and sensors included in the AIR. This may be worth considering, especially if the price for this model is driven down as a result.

    • I bought a MPP 2 weeks before the Air came out, because I was tired of waiting on the promise of rumours. Sigh.

      • +2

MPP is still superior, so don't beat yourself up too much, you still have a fantastic drone.

Yeah you're right. I actually put mine up for sale and got an offer for $50 less than what I paid for it, but after a bit of review and comparison I decided to hang onto it. LCD on the remote (which I've used a few times when the phone connection cut out), longer fly time, a bit of extra weight and power to handle winds, radio remote (not WiFi). Worth the bit extra I reckon.
Just wish I had the 100mbit camera… which I guess is the mavic 2 Rayve's talking about.

@ToastySteve: Exactly! The radio remote by itself I think is enough of a difference. I bought the MP a month back and had the same regret when I heard about the Air, but after looking into it I realised I still had a better drone. Lets see what v2 brings us.

        • @ToastySteve: Yep, apparently upgrade of data rate to 100 mbs plus a larger sensor (the same as the DJI Phantom 4 pro) are some of the major changes - as well as the better avoidance system of the AIR.

  • Does anyone know when the Mavic Air will be in stores (JBHIFI etc)?

  • I bought the Air on Ebay from Hongkong with Pick5 but somehow mine was shipped from their Melb warehouse so I basically got it for $1250 from Australia but not sure about warranty.

    • Can I know which seller is this? :)

      • +2

        https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-DJI-Mavic-Air-Fly-More-Com…
I used pick5 to get 5% off and paid with Amex so total was $1246 Aud on my statement
They shipped mine from their Melb Warehouse yesterday so should be here tomorrow

        • What about the warranty?

        • +3

          @r0xz: That's what I'm unsure about
It's coming tomorrow and I will contact DJI to ask
I will let you guys know

        • @wayne7190: thanks!

        • @wayne7190: Thank you. Would appreciate your insights. How did they ship (eg courier, AusPost)?

        • Great price. I was holding off. But if they’re going for $1250, why not?

        • +1

@OzDJ_: Mine is shipped by Auspost from Huntingdale VIC

        • @wayne7190: Superb. Thank you! Does that mean you now have it in your hot(?) little (?) hands? If so, did it include an AU power plug or other items to indicate it's via an official Australian distributor?

        • @OzDJ_: deleted

        • Please let us know once you have received it and how you went with DJI Care registration.

        • I made an order this morning and the seller is already saying Melbourne warehouse is out of stock but will be shipped ASAP when restocked from Au DJI and offered to refund if I wanted.

        • @doxy: I just made an enquiry about my order made of the 31/1/18. Got the same response. But they weren't able to provide an ETA. Could be days or weeks :(

        • @Moogyl: Oh man, that sucks. So the ebay stock is not reflective of their Melb warehouse then. When I asked about ETA the seller said it's up to DJI Au.

    • +1

I've just received it this morning
On the back it says Mavic Air Fly More Combo (AU) and come with Australia plug and everything shown on DJI Aus website. So it seems to be local stock
I contacted the ebay seller asking for an invoice and they said they can provide a Paypal Invoice that I can use for local Aus DJI warranty.
I was able to purchase DJI Care refresh without any problem
I will update once I get the invoice from them but from the look of thing it's not grey stock

      • Awesome news. I pulled the trigger on one from them, too.

      • Thanks! Looks good if local warranty applied

      • +4

        Just to update you guys
I contacted DJI with the Paypal Invoice the seller sent me and they won't take it as proof of purchase. I then contacted the seller and they say I would need to contact them if I need to claim warranty. Hope this clear out the warranty information for anyone who thinking about purchasing it from ebay like me.
TBH this doesn't concern me since I wasn't expect it to be AU stock so I wasn't expecting warranty when I purchased it and was relying on DJI Care Refresh incase something happen in the future.

        • Hi wayne7190, did they explain why they wouldn't take the paypal invoice?

        • Cheers for the feedback

        • +1

@doxy: Nope, I sent them an email with a screenshot of the paypal invoice and they juat said they cant take it as receipt
When I contacted the seller regarding that, they said if I need to claim warranty I can go through with them instead

      • I ended up biting the bullet 2 days ago. Was hoping for Au stock and the seller reassured me that warranty would come from local DJI Au. How long did it take them to ship out?

        • I placed my order on Monday morning and received it on Weds morning
