At least some of the customer reviews says it does the job pretty well. Between i don't prefer using GPS on phone.

all aspects, not only for GPS localization but also the estimated time for travel, nice user GUI, nice operation methods…. My friend uses one top-end Garmin or Tomtom which including one sim card, but this machine often gives the high cost (time cost, toll road, distance) path comparing with the realtime google map
the life time really just refer to the life of the unit in which they drop the support after few years.
