    Bought a couple of Belkin lightning cables from KG Electronics a while back and they turned out to be fakes. Ended up requesting a refund after a couple of replacements and returns. I don't think it was KG's fault but just thought I might mention there are quite a few Belkin fakes out there.

    • Interesting. I ordered this before your post. Do you have any suggestions for how someone might tell if they turn out to be fake? Are there specific websites or forums that might help determine if they are genuine. A quick Google search didn't help much.

        I verified the authenticity of the cables by comparing them to the ones I bought from Dick Smith prior to them closing down. The originals had slimmer sheaths, felt alot less rubbery and were alot easier to roll up. The connectors were also smaller compared to the fakes. Admittedly there are a lot of websites with pictures showing fake and original cables but not alot showing power boards so I am not too sure how you would go about verifying the authenticity. The cables from KG came without packaging as well but when I asked for the packaging to be included, they didn't look a well made as the ones i bought from DSE. Having said that, KG are reliable traders and if you are unhappy with your purchase, they will have no qualms giving you a refund.

          Thanks very much for your reply. I will do my best to compare the images online of the official ones and see if I spot any obvious discrepancies.

          @Rayve:

          Call Belkin? They may have a way to verify.

    Great for swinging above your head like a mace, thanks OP

  • Looking for the 4 way version, this is too big :(

  • Sounds like they may have a few "fakes' floating around their store. As much as I love these power boards, I'm really not sure about buying one here :(

  • reckon we can try registering the product ? Surely beckon would not allow a fake to be registered with them?

  • Is it safe to plug 8 devices onto this board which is connected to just the single power point in the wall?
    I have no clue when it comes to electrical things, just wondering if it would overload the single power point?

  • I have the original, purchased from JB Hifi. Will compare once i get mine from KG!
