$200 is pretty good. DWI and eglobal? Not so much.

I bought these for 300 (regret) equivalent overseas and they have a few problems. Reviews should point them out.

    Major ones are:
Left only for calls. The right earbud does nothing (it is also slave)
YouTube and games are mostly unbearable due to out of sync with audio. Music is fine and so are certain video apps (infuse works for me).
Battery life is only 3 hrs, tad short.
Constant disconnects for split seconds due to audio syncing.

The last one most people don’t understand but it is because of the phone to master and master to slave connection which had a slight delay.

    Pros tho.

The noise cancelling is not up to QC25’s and not even QC30 standards, but it works decently enough. The audio pass through modes are much better and allow you to hear the outside even with in-ear models. Good for being out and about.
Can use a single earphone (left only though it can be used in your right ear anyways) and it will be enough for calls, although you’ll need to control using your phone.
Super lightweight and pretty cool looking imo (I have gold version), though this is obviously subjective.

For $200 maybe it’s okay but definitely not worth 400 and not even for my 300. Will suit someone more into music, but perhaps try hunt for the newer Samsung gear 2018. I hear that’s pretty good.

    • All good points - but it is the limitation with this tech

Left only for calls. The right earbud does nothing (it is also slave)

Most of the "Truly wireless" buds are like that. Besides, the phone conversation is only mono through the network anyway.

YouTube and games are mostly unbearable due to out of sync with audio. Music is fine and so are certain video apps (infuse works for me).

weird that it does it in Youtube - what phone you using out of curiosity?

Battery life is only 3 hrs, tad short.

still MUCH better than my Samsung 1st Gen Gear Buds. 3Hrs is pretty good even compared to the other wireless buds such as the Meizu or the Backbeat Go

Constant disconnects for split seconds due to audio syncing.

Most of it is because of interference in the city areas. Sucks I know - but even the Apple Earpods suffer from the same issues because we cant help people blasting 2.4Ghz waves in the streets. Earbuds are even more susceptible to this due to the size and the power output of the BT comms.

        iPhone X.

As for the disconnects, it’s not an actual disconnect from the source, which happens rarely.

The auto moreso pauses for a split second due to the NC feature and bouncing the bt between the phone tothe left then right earbud. I think it uses NC only when playing music or some audio source is used. If you’re familar with NC it adds a delay to music due to the time the systems take to work. Then because it turns off, if you have constant on/off audio like following GPS directions, it always makes weird sounds. If you turned on and off the NC switch on a pair of QC 25’s for example, it’s what it’s like.

        • I got one on the way.. so I'll test it with my Note 8. Going to be interesting since I get tons of interference in Chatswood where I am based. See if fares better than the Samsung Gear Buds or the QCY Q29's.

        • @bchliu:
Funny I’ve got a pair of Q29’s too. How much did you get it for? Sound quality is definitely lower and so is comfort but they’re much cheaper.

        • @ATangk: I got for about 40 bucks delivered. It's the first gen set though (not the later "pro"). Does drop out quite frequently and the synchronisation between the two buds is an issue. The Samsung Gear IconX does fare much better.. but still not perfect.

        • @bchliu:
Pretty cheap. I’m not sure if I have the pro, is it marked on the box? I got mine for 199HKD.

        • @ATangk: I don't think it's marked. The main difference according to some on this forum is that the Pro can active Google Assistant or Siri on the iPhone. If you can do that, then it's the pro (I can't do it from mine).

    • YouTube and games are mostly unbearable due to out of sync with audio. Music is fine and so are certain video apps (infuse works for me).

I think, this is most likely the phone problem, I have the same problem with a Bluetooth device (Audio sonic) out of sync in my old phone (Nexus 5), but the problem gone, when I use my newer phone (Z3), using the same Bluetooth device .

But that my experience, so might be different case

Have also used a pair of these and the pairing between the L and R constantly drops. Would advise to wait for when Sony releases an updated model, apparently it's a fairly common issue, either that or some of us have really thick brains.

    • Agreed. I spent ages researching this model and hardly any reviews talk about the right ear drop out. Find the user reviews on the Sony and Amazing website and you'll see that half of the reviews have issue with constant drop out. Wait for the gen 2. I got the Sony MDR-1000XM2 and don't regret it.

Me 3 I guess… I was super excited about these when they came out and almost pulled the trigger multiple times but didn't.. However, I was in Hong Kong and succumbed to the shiny new wireless headphones and bought it… INSTANT REGRET… yes.. I know Hong Kong isn't the best place to test these due to the dense population and 2.4ghz waves everywhere.. but this is insanely bad.. the Right Ear only works for 20% of the time, and I got so frustrated that I had to return them the next day..

However, the good points are that WHEN both ears do work… the Noise cancelling is amazing.. even the busy streets of Mong Kok in Hong Kong are reduced to a tiny whisper.

If sony can solve these issues, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again, even at FULL PRICE.
