Do you need a discount code for this? I can't see the promotion on their website.

I just bought travel insurance through them this morning -_-

    Try this link: https://www.travelinsurancedirect.com.au/campaigns/Australia…

Let me know if it works so I can update the OP.

  • When I try to do via Cash Rewards, there does not appear to be any place to enter a promo code, anyone else able to get it to show? If I do via the normal site I can enter the promo code no issue?

    • From travel rewards website for TID:

"Rewards may not be paid if a coupon code is used that is not listed on this site"

OP Have you tested that Cash rewards will actually work?

    • I had the same issue…. I just went via the normal site.

      • I have in the past used cashrewards with a coupon link. You'll have to manually contact cashrewards for it to track, as when you click from cashrewards it goes to a normal quote page. Once that page is loaded, I usually just past my coupon link and book from there (I would think that the cookie from CR wouldn't track when doing this). The important thing is to just make sure you do click from cashrewards.

  • Thanks OP

Thanks OP, just booked Travel Insurance with the discount, and used Cashrewards too.

    • Not comparable. I have the same credit card insurance but still pay for separate cover. Read your PDS.

      • I've taken multiple trips overseas using just the standard credit card cover and have never had issues with claims.

        • I'm curious. Which card and what kind of claims?

        • @rob359:

Broken laptop screen and another time busted up knees that required xrays. Was Allianz i think by memory.

I think it's case by case. I bought insurance with TID for a recent trip and when a flight was cancelled due to insolvency of the airline I discovered that insolvency isn't covered by TID or a lot of standalone insurance policies (I read the PDS but hadn't considered that aspect all until it happened). BUT my credit card insurance covered it and paid me out!

        • insolvency of the airline

          Name of carrier?

        • @rawm: AirBerlin

        • You can try and contact AirBerlin and ask them to write you a letter saying that your flight was cancelled due to 'operational reasons'. This would get around the PDS.

I was in this situation with an Indian airline declaring insolvency, and they were more than happy to write the letter for me.

        • @bobdane1: Thanks. In the end my credit card insurance covered it.

Many thanks OP, have booked this for an upcoming trip at Easter!

    • You're welcome :)

I found World2cover was cheaper than TID even after deducting their coupons.

    • I missed out on their 20% off code. I hope they release another one soon!

        You're in luck! Try "WC20"

Legend! I posted a deal in your honour.

Whats World2Cover like compared to TID?

      • +1

Check out the rating on Choice. W2C is Recommended with a nice ribbon unlike TID and that;s good enough for my simple mind

Perfect timing - just booked a trip to NZ and was looking for travel insurance today! Thanks OP!

    • +1

Make sure you shop around. TID is not always the best. TickInsurance was recently the best value for me.

    • Also organising an NZ trip so likewise

why do people like TID so much?

For my Euro trip, Southern Cross with cashrewards 7% killed TID and their perpetual 10-15% off.

  • I can't see anywhere to enter the promo code.. What page is it on?

(Using the web, not mobile site)

Edit: Ignore - I just went back and clicked the campaign link instead of going through the Cashrewards link.

    Shonky company, beware!
They used to be good until they changed ownership.
Hope you don’t have to make a claim.

  • We will be flying out to Paris, via Doha. Strictly transit only.

Do I need to include Qatar as one of my destinations?

  • I booked travel insurance with TID earlier this year, just before choice.com.au came out with a review on travel insurance companies.

It didn't rate TID highly unfortunately.

The top one was RACV Total Travel Care. I'm not a RACV member so I'm not eligible for the extra discount, but when I went onto the RACV site to compare my quote that I had already purchased with TID, I thought the RACV one was indeed better value.

So RACV may be worth considering, even more so if you are a RACV member.

  • Make sure to compare prices with other travel insurance companies. I found this page is useful for that: https://www.finder.com.au/travel-insurance/quote

  • Just read over the PDS and this company does not cover any claims relating to scooters (ie Bali) unless you have a valid motorcycle license. The other recent insurance deal only requires a valid Australia driver's license.

  • Does anybody know for the annual worldwide travel insurance option, do I need to fly from and back to Australia?

    Thanks
