lol! Fixed it
That 78th gen processor tho!
Geez, thought I accidentally went into hypersleep overnight.
Who will buy GTX940MX these days as a gaming machine? Probably not.
Yeah, not sure anyone is going to be able to avail of the UHD resolution in games with a 940MX…
Barely does
redyoutube
940MX? Over $1700? In 2018? For an Inspiron? OP, I dunno what alternate universe you live in, but this ain't a deal.
I'm looking for something like this. What would you recommend with similar specs or at this price-point?
its definitely not a gaming laptop, but quite close to perfect for dev work.
For me, nothing else came even close to this price with 8th gen i7 + 16GB ram + 512 NVMe ssd combination. 940MX is good enough for graphics I want and I can plug in 2 external monitors to the laptop.
I see what you mean now for non gaming type of work it fits the bill.
4k for screen real estate - check
512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD drive for super fast running programs - check
8th gen cpu - checkIt's a good trade off for what you need heck it's not a bad media consumption machine I think either.
I wonder if NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX with 4GB GDDR5 graphics memory can handle 4k streams, 4k YouTube and 4k videos.
I've seen a friend's laptop with 7th gen i5 and 940mx handling 4k youtube without an issue - haven't tried 4k videos. It was also good enough to drive 27" 4k + 24" 1080p monitors without an issue. I've ordered mine and should receive it within the next week or so. Will give an update once I have mine.
@james2k: sweet lemme know how it goes am curious as to how powerful it is.
@AlienC: I hooked it up to 2 24" external monitors (both 1900 x 1200) + laptop screen and they all run fine without any issues. There are some issues with windows scaling text on certain apps in the external monitor, and I'm trying to fix them with not much success :|
The laptop is known to have PWM, so with 2 monitors is good.
The deal is back btw.
You said it n you got voted up cause black n white you are right. I was getting a bit hyped till i saw the gpu. The $1350 7000 1060 deal is bette. But yeah watch out for da meltdown specter boogie man wooo
That was a super rare deal though.. the Acer Predator Helios 300 from Amazon US I'd a more realistic contender at sub $1600 AUD.

I'd agree if but not for the heat issue, that's my only gripe with it compared to the ice cold Dell
@ninjataki: oh really Dell runs much cooler than the Acer I actually haven't properly checked this out let me know how it goes
@AlienC: My source is the Notebookcheck reviews on both machines. I was considering them a month back but opted to wait it out longer :)
@ninjataki: hmm yeah will have to check that. They both seem neck and neck but am leaning towards Acer because consistency of low price.
Where can I buy the Dell for best price again and is there a cheap Australian option for warranty and au power plug etc..
The Acer would be coming from Amazon US for me sub $1600 AUD total shipped.
Can you change the UDH in title to UHD. I spent a moment trying to figure out what new tech they have in screens, before I realised it’s just a typo.
