No wonder you're still single. :P
Blocknews might be for you then. Try the $10.99 for 100GB plan — you can take as long as you like to use it up.
I'm still getting full speed - 1.6 MB/s at nearly all times of the day (slows to about 1.2 MB/s at 5AM-7AM).
Was with giganews before astraweb on the $25/mo plan, and I'd rate the $11/mo astraweb plan as comparable.
If you only need block usenet, definitely consider someone else, as astraweb may not be that great for non-unlimited plans (I do download quite a bit more than 100gb a month unfortunately).
If you search on google, you can get for $11/month unlimited

Sorry fr the noob question but where can I see what downloads are availabe? Ive been looking for an alternative to torrents
Usenet is the bees knees compared to torrents. There's a lot more than you can download from Usenet than you can from torrents, because unlike torrents, Usenet binary files are kept on the servers for 600~700 days (this is known as retention).
Whereas files on a torrent can only be downloaded as long as there's somebody online and uploading the file. If you've ever stumbled on a torrent with no seeders, you know you're too late to the party — the torrent's already dead, and will probably have to beg somebody else to seed it and upload. Or find another tracker.
You don't have to do that with Usenet — the files are kept online for a much longer period of time and you can download something as old as 2 years ago.
Not a "special". The $11 offer is permanent.
There have been links for the yearly deal at $96/yr too - for over a year now.
Dissapointed with Astraweb lately. The US and EU servers has been slow for the past week.
Oh yeah, here's another hidden link:

Basically you pay upfront (US $96 per annum) and it works out to be $8 USD each month. Cheaper than paying per month, but it's only worth going for if you want to commit long term.
For those who want "block-based" plans, you are better off with BlockNews as they are currently offering a special discount for Christmas:
