Starcraft 2 for $58 at GAME Instore during Cataclysm Launch 07/12/2010!

450

GAME is selling Starcraft 2 for $58 one day only for the launch of World of Warcraft Cataclysm ! This is the cheapest I've seen and totally beats JB's and Dick Smith $69 when it was launched.
This seem to be an instore only deal when Cataclysm launches at 7pm on 07/12/2010 !

Doing a quick comparison with local competitors
JB Hifi has it for $89
EB Games has it for $98

They also have other deals such as
Cataclysm itself for $48 (RRP $69.95)
World of Warcraft Battle Chest for $19.95 (RRP $69.95)
Lich King for $29.95 (RRP $59.95)

Cheers

This is also my first deal post so let me know if there is anything that I could improve on :).

Not into starcraft, but you got my attention by putting game in capitals

  • Will it be cheap all day, or only at 7pm?

    • Not only will you be able to get Cataclysm at an awesome price of $48, you can grab these launch specials on the day

I'd assume it's all day…but wouldn't know until you go in.

      • I called my 2 local stores : Liverpool (Westfield) & Casula.

Liverpool: All day specials - but this guy was not 100% confident… Opens at 9am.

Casula: Seemed like I was talking to the manager cos he mentioned he's briefing his staff - Specials only at 7pm. Recommended u go in earlier during the day, pay for it and then get into the queue…

I will head into try at 9am… =)

Will post again once I know for sure!

  • My local GAME store will typically be closed by 5pm or so, so I'm just wondering whether you need to pre-order (as per instructions on the linked webpage) in order to gain access to the store. I don't plan on buying WoW:Cataclysm, so there's not much point if I can't get at the SCII lol. I've never been to a launch of any sort, so I have no idea whether you need to line up outside or whatnot.

    Anyone in the know?

PS Arghh…I was going to buy from fishpond (it was listed at $75) once I found a code, but now it's back at $97. Just in case it ever goes back on sale, does anyone know whether it's the Aus/NZ version? I sent them an email, but they replied with "It is a version that will play in Australasia."

Ambiguous much? From my understanding, all versions can play in Australia, but it doesn't mean you can connect to local servers. However, they did put the price back up, which could possibly mean that it is the Aus/NZ version…

    • I don't think you need to pre-order to access the store. Only instructions I saw was if you do pre-order you have to pick it up at that store.

      • Hmm, it's the lack of details that's irritating. For once, I wish there were t&c's that I could read through lol

    • If its from GAME its probably the Australian version. Don't think they are allowed to sell other versions. Although everybody in Asia-Pacific (including Oceania) connect to the servers in Singapore… So you could theoretically buy from any Asian country.

      • Thanks, yeah I would expect the copy from GAME to be the Australian version. My original question though was regarding the copy from fishpond. I was about to buy from there before the price went back up. I'm not sure that GAME will have that many copies of SCII available.

        • If its 100 bucks it must be AU version surely

        • True, that's a fairly good indicator. Now I just wish they had written that on the product page

  • As far as Cataclysm goes, JB have it for $37.98, and Big W have it for $37.96 (for that sweet 2c saving). If you have access to the Dick Smith staff sale listed separately, you could get it for $35.95 (with the 10% off).

  • Does anyone know if you can order SC2 online at this price or do you have to physically be at the store during the launch time? (I'm in Brisbane and they don't appear to have any remotely near me)

If not might just have to go the $68 EB Games deal then.

    • Why not buy the EB copy, then turn up at GAME. If they don't have it, you didn't miss out on the EB price, and if they do, you can always return the EB copy, to a physical store if that's more convenient. You're not losing out on shipping either.

  • Hey, do I get to buy SC2 in the daytime or I have to wait for 7pm?

    • I've just bought SC2 @ $58 at GAME Casula - could not really bother to try to price match/beat… I can upload the receipt if anyone needs it.

Basically if the store refuses you, ask them to call GAME Casula and they will definately say $58 sold at least 1 this morning … 9.30am.

If anyone's interested in WoW - they can ALSO sell it - they just received an email from HQ that someone in Australia sold a copy so all outlets can now sell it ahead of 7pm!

  • Okie, confirmed. I can get to buy it right now!

    • which store was it? castle hill told me it's at 7pm…

      • @ Ganga,
        I bought mine here…

        Casula
        Shop 30 Casula Mall,
Cnr Kurrajong Road & Ingham Drive,
        CASULA NSW 2170
        Phone: (02) 9602-4170

You should ask Castle Hill to call Casula, as they've sold at least 1 to me already…

      • just came back from Game in East Garden Westfield. bought the SC at $58.

  • +1

@Jaterp - I've got my receipt (with date & time stamp), although I'm not sure where to upload this for people.

    • Hi Tortoise, Could you please upload it to imageshack.us ? Im planning on buying SC2 today at the Broadway store.

  • Purchased from Game in Knox. Only a few copies left they said.

  • They dont even have one in Bankstown, Hurstville and Miranda.
What kind of promotion is this.

    • Just purchased SCII from Games Werribee (Melbourne), $58 as quoted. They said they have 5 left.

    • Miranda shop don't even know this promotion……… Keep on telling me is 99.

  • I bought my copy at EB Games Broadway for $58. They price matched GAME.
Unfortunately EB Games at Wynyard and Town Hall would not price match.
    Good luck!

    • Hey mrcucc, how many did they have left? I'm planning on buying one there after work! (or GAME).

Btw. Why not purchase from GAME Broadway, were they out?

      • EB Games was closer from the bus stop. I believe GAME at Broadway was sold out when EB rang to check details.
