Does this have a notification led?

  • Is this Single Sim or Dual Sim version

    • I think it is a single sim phone by reading their description

    • Amyasim ebay, JBHifi , Harvey Norman doesn't say dual sim but couple of other sites mentioned its dual sim. not sure if its true..

      Think of us
      buy mobile

Also, Here is HTC page about HTC U ULTRA which should give all detailed info.

  • -1

Got bad reviews and doesn't have a headphone jack.

      • +3

Just putting it out there. HTC was my fave oem back in the days when I had the M7 and M8.

        • Pretty sure HTC are not an OEM.

        • @Diji1: have u heard about google pixel yet 😏

          They’ve become a hybrid now

        • -2

@kamban: Pretty sure they didn't manufacture teh googly pixel.

        • @Diji1: they did the Pixel 1st generation, but not the 2nd.

        • +1

@johnnyle: HTC manufactured the Pixel 2 but not the Pixel 2 XL (LG)

        • @johnnyle: They did the first and second. But technically Google bought some of HTC's people to design the Pixel 2 so they could use their ideas, so HTC doesn't have to be mentioned.

      • besides apple, others (android) have started to dump the 3.5mm jack, and blue tooth head phones are getting cheaper ….. though battery life of those isn’t as long as the phone an a charge.

love my $350 cabled head phones but reality is in the future i will be needing to use an adapter, or compromise on what phone i get based on 3.5mm jack.

    • +2

Such a shame, the HTC 10 had decent sound too.

    • That is why I got the HTC 10. I carry BT headphones and when the battery runs out, I switch to normal AUX headphones 😀

  • +4

3000 mAh for 1440 screen, can it last one whole day without charging? plus no 3.5mm jack, why?

  • +3

didn't this used to be around $800-900?

    • not sure but its $499 now at Jb hifi, harvey norman, mobilciit had it for 699 now 498

    • -1

      That's was the HTC U11

  • this or the one sold in officeworks?

  • +2

    this or the Axon 7?

    • Axon 7 has a better screen and is dual sim and has a 3.5mm jack. This one is better at everything else.

      • Both these phones have the same screen resolution, I would prefer HTC ultra screen over the other though..HTC one draw back is that usb C to 3.5 mm audio will only work with HTC adapter and not with any generic ones out in the market.. The earphone included in the box is already a usb c.

        • My wife's u11 headphone adapter works on my pixel 2. It also sounds better than the stock pixel 2 adapter.

        • +1

HTC one draw back is that usb C to 3.5 mm audio will only work with HTC adapter and not with any generic ones out in the market.

          What…. How Apple-esque! -_-

    • +6

I'd personally go for the Axon 7. Better display, better speakers, bigger battery, less fragile build.

      • yea i think i agree with you there…axon 7 sounds better. Thanks :)

        • Cameras on this are better though hmm

What about the LG V20 for $383.20?

        • +2

          @CVonC: bootloop

        • +5

          @Jackson:

          And there it is.

        • i have the v20 , good phone except it’s not oled screen, paid $366 for it on one of the ebay 20% off moments .

also to wireless charge you need to change metal back to plastic , though it does have a removeable battery.

no bootloops …. that happened in another LG model, and LG us to make one of the nexus phones, never a problem.

bit like samsung and batteries … fixed in next model ….. v20 has been out for long time now.

    • +3

No…htc u ultra has better screen..better snapdragon 821 and overall look and feel..it is a premium phone with great sound spectrum.. Would any day prefer this over 2016 year Axon 7 ( i have used ultra)

      • +1

$50 more though and you get VIP ACP with the Axon. We don't know if this U Ultra from Allphones is dual SIM too.

        • +1

HTC has been the nerds darling since the windows pocket PC days when they were making xdas for O2 in the uk. Then the rise of the Phoenix with the One M7, so there will always be fans. But nothing is more prevalent here than the phone snobs that just won't want a ZTE no matter if it was given away.

So 50 cheaper, dual sim, Aussie stock, and AMOLED screen with Daydream compatibility and 2 years accident cover. https://giphy.com/gifs/fGs18KxtuvE7C

        • yep bought one for my 11year old …..2 year warranty is a bonus though he has never broken a device since he got his first one at 6 yrs old …..

zte amd snob value …. not a major brand in australia, known more for supermarket phones and modems …… big overseas.

  • Seems like a decent replacement for my Nexus 5X… The price is right… Anything better value out there?

    • A good upgrade would be LG G6 in this deal
Mum has been using it since August and it's a solid phone. Dual camera is a big plus

      • Ja, was considering both. But $150 more I don't know…. Plus the HTC has Oreo updates already. Hmmmm…

  • +2

    Band 28?

    • +2

Referring to 4G band ? if yes here it is.

      4G bands : LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)

  • Might be a dumb question. Is it under Australian warranty or international?

    • From Ebay page :

2 year warranty :Peace of mind with a free extended warranty locally serviced in Australia.
Items are primarily shipped from our Hong Kong warehouse. Items stocked in Australia are sent from a Sydney or Melbourne warehouse.

      • thanks…

  • +8

    Poor use of space

  • The u11 was SD825 right?

    • +1

Yes. Hence the u11 being a truer flagship phone than this.

    • +2

      The U11 has a SD835.

  • +1

No attack to the OP, what guarantee that we will see the same price when the time the code is available (without the price jack)? Also, this probably was asked before, does amaysim provide an invoice (for TRS purpose)?

    • non taken :) . Lets pray for No price jack.. few does like Shopping Square and but not everyone..
About TRS .. I guess they do ..here are few comments from other users
      TRS comment 1
      TRS Comment 2

    • no GST as its grey import item from oversea.

  • +1

The battery in this is pathetic. No reason for it to be only 3000 mah in a phone this big and thick.

With that being said at this price it's pretty good value, but HTC must have been high when they designed this phone.

    • To be fair, I think everyone seems to carry "a battery for their battery" in Google's words but yes the battery life is quite poor. Reasonable for the price paid though.

      • depends what notifications and background apps people have running in regards to battery life, and if the OS has been tuned for battery saving when screen is blanked.

though there are some china droids with huge batteries now (4500 mah +) as a sales pitch rather than how thin the phone is.

        • Personally I don't care for thin phones, I'd rather have a sturdy phone that lasts me.

  • +4

I think, to be fair, the rant from MKBHD was when the phone still selling at around 750USD. For 348 AUD , it's a pretty good deal (assuming this would come true) …

  • Was tempted to get this during the pre-order periode. Would bang my head on the wall seeing the massive price drop. One of the biggest premium phone flop and price drop as of late imho

  • except for samsung and google, most android flagship phones take a huge dive after 12 months …..it’s why we buy android ….

  • This thing is a badly designed behemoth of a phone. Very poor 69.7% (gsmarena) screen:body ratio.

I agree with the other person who said Axon 7 is a much better deal atm.

  • +1

Warning: this has glass body so do not use phone without case. I bought from amex Harvey Norman deal and broke back glass as was not using case…

    • Why I stopped using HTC and drifted off to the Pixel 2 (why does everyone use glass these days)

  • Any ideal if sim 2 of dual sim version of this phone is 3G/4G or just 2G?

    • +1

I think I remember reading it is 4G/2G but would appreciate confirmation from someone else as well.

    • +1

3g/4g. and slot 2 either sd card or sim card

      • Thanks.

  • What do people think of the Oppo F5? Seems decently specced and only $100 more on kogan.

    • Helio P23 vs SD821 and 100$ more?

  • 20% off code not working? I get "Looks like this code isn't ready yet. Please try again later." when entering it into eBay checkout page

    • 10am eastern standard time.. Should be live now.

  • Thanks, but bought the LG v20 instead. I think it's a much better phone for around $35 more.

    • I looked at them, not sure how you made the conclusion 'much better'. Design wise? Maybe, but that's subjective.
Software: U Ultra is already planned for 8.0.
      Spec wise: U Ultra wins

      • V20 also due for 8.0 in first quarter. Has better rear Cameras. Much better manual control. Quad DAC with 3.5mm. better mics. Better screen to body ratio. IR, removable bigger battery.

        • Fair enough, I think the screen/body ratio is pretty minuscule, and camera is pretty close to a wash with better FF on HTC. The headphone jack, IR and battery doesn't bother me, but your points are fair. Horses for courses. Enjoy your new device :)

        • +1

I have both. To be honest I find the V20 slightly better. The camera takes nice wide shots and the double tap to wake is much responsive than the Ultra. Battery is also slightly better and V20 is much slimmer and lighter.

The down side of V20 is it doesn't have an app drawer. Also HTC sense is slightly better.

  • OP
    1. Is the HTC Ultra offered by Amaysim a dual sim model. Is it same as JB HiFi & Harvey Norman's Ultra.
I tried phoning Amaysim, but really, after nearly 1.5 hours waiting in queue and still waiting. This is aweful service.
    2. Has anyone been able to get a local price match.

    • Couldn't find info to identify if it is single or dual sim model.
I have sent query to amaysim and let u know once i get response but i guess it would be single sim coz no mention on dual sim at JB, HN, this ebay listing.

Some info on SIM as per HTC these comes as in 2 models Single SIM model & Dual SIM model
      http://www.htc.com/au/support/htc-u-ultra/howto/nano-sim.htm…

    • +1

I got confirmation email from Amaysim just now.
Its SINGLE SIM model. Hope this helps.

      • Single sim model is a deal breaker for me.
        Thanks OP for quick response.
May be helpful to add single sim to specs.
JB hifi offering is a dual sim.

        • The one JB sale is Single Sim as well

  • Yeah I'm only interested in dual Sim phones. So much easier to Sim surf.

  • Am regretting my order so bad. Needed the phone as a gift before heading overseas in early Feb. Didn't see the accursed 10 business lead time just to send the thing out (IS THIS THE YEAR 1940 OR SOMETHING?!) with an expected delivery date of between 10th and 26th of February…err…um…WHAT THE &*^$!

    • +1

That sucks.. but it's $150 cheaper than local stock so I guess it's OK.

  • Order cancelled by amaysim along with another order (also From one of amaysim operations pty's account) citing out of stock, but listing still listed as more than 10 units available. Told to switch to other products (not specified) or they will cancel the order, bait and switch much?
