Oops. Updated..
The B series was $1700 from these guys for boxing day week what makes the C series worth $500 more ??
Nope just the stand and i believe bezel that's different :)
It costs more because it's been replaced by the B model and stock is scarce.
It has Dolby Atmos support from the built in speakers, black bezel, and a different stand. It's not worth $500 more imo, but if you want those features you have to pay up because this model is harder to find.
It has Dolby Atmos support from the built in speakers
Except the Atmos coming from the built in speakers would be basically a waste of time.
I'm just saying what's written on the box.
B7 has the lesser panel quality. C7 and up have the scrutinised panels which have fewer flaws plus Atmos sound.
All reviews say it's exactly the same panel. Where have you seen that it's different?
Also, as pointed out by others, the B7T does actually support Atmos.
This is known by all experts and scrutineers in the industry. All panels are tested whether it be LCD or OLED during production. The highest quality ones go to the best models obviously. If a panel is passable or they have enough good quality ones it will go onto the lower models too. Just depends how many great panels they have to share with certain models. But the higher end ones have priority. So whether you like it or not some lower end OLEDs might have lesser quality panels. You shouldn't need a reviewer to tell you that, not as if they will anyway! If you don't realise this then maybe you should do some more research about quality control for TV's and production…
@Monstalova: So in other words you have no evidence to demonstrate that there will actually be an appreciable difference between the panels.
Interesting that you've already changed your tune from "B7 has the lesser panel quality" to "some lower end OLEDs might have lesser quality panels".
@CarbonTwelve:
Well it does have the lesser panel quality… It doesn't have to pass certain aspects that higher models do. Like I said do some research before buying, being so naive and believing whatever paid off reviewers tell you. All you have to do is google it. I'm not gona do your research for you!@Monstalova: What "aspects" does it not have to pass that higher models (specifically the C7) do?
There's another part of internet research that people need to not be naive about; and that's that there are plenty of people spouting all sorts of crap on forums with no evidence to back their claims up.
Unless you've actually got evidence to show that there are differences in the quality of the panels then you shouldn't go around telling everyone there are just because they're differently priced models.
FWIW the B7 is a couple of hundred less and the only main difference is the lack of Dolby Atmos. If you're not into a high end sound setup then may as well get that.
The B7 will still send Atmos through to a receiver though, so the only time you would miss it was if you were trying to output Atmos via the builtin TV speakers, which frankly would be insanely unnecessary.
Yeah, I am trying to wrap my head around that.
Dolby Atmos adds those speakers above you (or up firing) so how does this work or help on a TV ?
Although I have seen a soundbar that had Dolby Atmos so it must be a directional thing from the TV speakers.
I'd suggest the Samsung HW-K950, which I'm looking out for, myself.
Or so the 4k Players have secondary HDMI's to transmit ATMOS to AMP's/Soundbar etc
You're thinking of the B7A, which isn't sold here. The B7T doesn't lack Atmos support.
Others are saying it's pass-through only on the B7T, but either way it's not something you'd make good use of via the in-build speakers.
Seems you're correct. I bought the B7T a couple of weeks ago assuming the Atmos was the only thing lacking. If that's not the case, then just what does the C7 offer over the B7T? Is it really just the stand?
Build quality, yup. The B7 wasn't originally intended for our market.
The only difference is the stand. Not worth $500 extra.
And a silver bezel instead of black. And Atmos support with the built in speakers.
My understanding is that the B7 requires a soundbar to take advantage of Dolby Atmos, but the C7 has it built in.
I dont worry about sound. Show me B7 for the boxing day price and i will take one with out any question :)
Me neither. I got on at 1849 (with a bit of negotiation) at Harvey's on boxing day. Used two Amex cards to bring it down to 1649 after refund. One of those times I wish I had four Amex cards.
You'll definitely see it again for less once the 2018 models hit the shelves.
Any idea when they are going to hit to stores?
is that code only for this model?
Yes and few others!
found it. not on the sony 70 though
This is cheaper at Myer - $1,999 - https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/2717591
Edit - looks to be sold out at Myer - ignore me!
Take it to JB with it on your smart phone and price match, Did that for my Parents when they got a 65" Panasonic (it was under their staff price too) Probably would work at GG too
How did OzBargain miss this deal?
I think they put the price after it is sold out. I have been watching most retailers websites daily and not once did I see this price!
Myer told me they put the price on Tuesday and it is below cost price (based on what the guys told me, their cost price was 2098).
Any idea where I can get best deal on the 65" C7?
+1 need this for less than 3k!
Scored the B7 for 1699 on Boxing Day. Worth every cent. Watching it few hours a day. Loving it for PS4 Pro too.
Video Pro has the b7 55" for under $2k.
If the B goes back to $1700 then I'm going for it and selling my C6 just so I can get a new TV under warranty.
Title says eBay
