It's easy to set one up and it takes the hassle out of remembering to make regular deposits into your savings. You simply set up your savings plan and the money is automatically transferred for you.

All you need to do is:
Set up an Automatic Savings Plan by 31 December 2010,
Deposit at least $1000 per month through your new Automatic Savings Plan, for a minimum of 2 consecutive months by 28 February 2011,
And we'll deposit $50 into your account by the end of March 2011.
Set up your Automatic Savings Plan in 3 easy steps.
It's this easy:
Log into your Virgin Money Online Account and head to 'My Payments & Transfers'.
Select 'Virgin Saver Transfer' from the 'To' section and enter the amount you want to save.
Then choose the frequency by selecting the 'Set Schedule' option.
Just a friendly reminder that you can only set up a savings plan after you've activated your Virgin Saver account. To activate your account, transfer funds of any amount from your nominated linked account into your Virgin Saver using the online, or telephone banking service, provided by the financial institution holding your linked account. You'll need our BSB 242-265 and your Virgin Saver Account number. Only funds transferred from your linked account will activate your Virgin Saver and your account will be activated 3 business days after we receive the funds.

So, set up your Automatic Savings Plan before 31 December 2010 and we'll set you up with $50*.

  • To receive the $50 deposit offer you must be a current Virgin Saver customer in receipt of this promotional email and set up an Automatic Savings Plan before 31 December 2010 totalling $1000 or more per month for a minimum of two consecutive months by 28 February 2011. • 6.75% interest, that is good. Even higher than UBank. Too bad, only for 4 months.
But still, $50, sweet money. Good find, thank you ;-)

    • What's the current normal interest rate?

      • I don't know what is the normal rate. But I get 6.51% with USaver at the moment.
My friend opened Saving Maximiser with ING and receive 6.35% for 4 months then back to 5% standard rate.
For this one, after 6.75% for 4 months. It will drop to 5.35%.

But again, this can be changed if RBA decide to increase or drop rate. But don't think they will do that again soon.

    • Maybe but despite the recent reserve bank increase, despite the banks increasing loan rates by 0.45% none have increased rates for these type of accounts at all since then.

      carp :P

I set up a while ago, so my account goes off the 6.75% in December.

I can still ASP to this account, but while it's there the interest will be poor :S

      I can't remember what it was … 5% … 4.5%

Hi, I was going to close the account as the 4 months period just lapsed.
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29026

I'll instead withdraw the whole amount and leave the account opened to see whether I'll get this email.

You just need two ASP@1,000 which translate into $1,000 sitting there for 10 days. (each ASP will not be available for withdrawal for 5 days.)

Suppose you get 0% interest for that and instead take $50 as the interest. The return rate is
        50/1000/10*365 = 182.5% pa.

What's matter is whether we will get an email from Virgin?

If you want to get $50 easily, try this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35446 too.

  • 1000 dollars a month seems like a lot!

There maybe a little catch here

To receive the $50 deposit offer you must be a CURRENT Virgin Saver customer IN RECEIPT of THIS promotional email and set up an Automatic Savings Plan before 31 December 2010

If you are not then if you dont receive an email you might not qualify…

The OP mentions this so just keep it in mind.

$1000 a month for a minimum of two months seems like a lot just to get $50. Go mow some lawns instead! You could get $50 doing one lawn and it would only take an hour. ;)

  • i wonder if you open up an account if they will still send you this email so that you qualfiy?

    • i recently opened an account and have not received the email. i suspect it is because i am on the higher introductory rate

  • Hi zackary & anyone who get the email

Could you please give us some idea as to why you get this offer?
Did your 4 month introductory period expire? or you're just a new customer?

    • No answer? I just closed my Virgin saver.
It's no point keeping it as 4 month has lapsed and prospect of receiving this email is slim.

      • I called them today. They said that they CAN NOT give me the last statement of my account. They do not send it out by mail and they can't give me access to the system any more. I'm in a process of FSO!

    • Im not sure, I am close to my 4 month introductory period expiring next week.

  • Has anyone apart from Zackary received this letter?

I'm approaching the end of my 4 month introductory offer and have been making deposits to the account too.

But I haven't received it and no one else has said yet that they've received it

(Thinking this might be a very narrow targetting for the letter)

    • ive adjusted title to reflect this

I received this offer from them.

I setup my account at the beginning of November and this email came one month later to the day.
