Jeepers - have held off on this one as so many unplayed titles in the drawer, but this is tempting, very tempting…

100 hours of amazing gameplay for $28? No brainer.

I keep buying games at good prices and then put them away while I work through the backlog and probably get around to playing them when they're even cheaper! Heh.

I've not played a lot of RPG-type games.

Kind of games I've churned through are the Uncharted series, Tomb Raider titles, Titanfall 2 etc.

How's this one compare with Skyrim? (which I've also not played).

Also, general consensus on the gaming experience - Xbox v PS4 - looks like much of a muchness if I read the online sources. A few framerate differences maybe leaning in favour of PS4.

Witcher and Skyrim, though lengthy, are worth bumping up through your back catalog.

They have very different combat. Witcher 3 is visually better. Witcher 3 has a better, more involving story with many very memorable characters.

They both have great DLC but Witcher 3's is much longer, particularly Blood and Wine.

Not sure about which platform would be better. I won it on xbone, however if I were to buy it on console today I'd get it on my only 4k console, ps4 pro. However, for best looks you can't go past a good PCMR rig.

        • I'm like this too. But witcher 3 GOTY is definitely worth $30+ imho :)

  • Hey does anyone know if EB games are doing the Christmas returns to January 15th this year?

    • +1

      Till the 11th.

      • Thank god. I need to return a game. Appreciate the response!

  • Same price different name.

EB have completely given up. This and every single other game on their site has been the same price for months. Christmas sale/black friday/summer/new years - price has remained the same except for a few titles.

    • Not in this case. This title has been selling for about $36 on the EB site for a while.

      • Maybe im thinking of $28 pre owned ?

        • Not sure. May have been for the base version. Prior to this posting, the only other time I saw a physical copy advertised for the GOTY edition physical disk for $28 was from Amazon.com.au (I did some comparisons to EB, JB, and a few other stores hoping I could pick it up as a Christmas gift).

Bought this a few weeks ago. The box also comes with a GOG code :)

I elected to buy it from EB instead of steam during the Christmas sale (when it was $20 USD) so ~25 AUD. Imo worth it for physical copy plus digital backup.

    • What's a gog code?

      • +4

Woops, this is for PS4/Xbox. Sorry :( I was mistakenly talking about the PC version.

Gog = Good old Games. A PC digital store.

Amazing game - bought the base edition for $30 last year and its the best money I’ve ever spent on a game.

    • +1

As a potential buyer - who's read reviews previously but held off in part because I don't have 100 hours to spare - why is it the best money spent? Just interested in what made this game great for you? :)

      • +1

FYI I haven’t bought the DLC yet but I enjoy the base game :)

I’m a bit of a graphics person, so I love the graphics of the game. The game itself is so packed with different quests and things to do! You could be playing this game for over a few hours and not realise.

Long story, lots of main quests and side quests to do and a big map - the reason why I love horizon zero dawn as well! 😝

In conclusion- the game was perfectly made, great for those people who like Skyrim/horizon zero dawn. Interesting story too. I don’t have time to spare either, but I find myself playing the game late at night on weekends!

  • Bargain, I’ll pick it up today have been holding off for a long time

  • Do EB still sell gutted games as new?

Just curious coz I haven't bought from EB for a long time and recently bought Uncharted: The Lost Legacy at JB and I'm surprised it was a sealed copy.

    • Yes. Depending on stock, you can request a sealed copy instead.

    • If you order online and it comes from their warehouse then it will be sealed (unless it's a Nintendo game in which case they're usually never sealed). If the shipping is more than $3.50 then it will most likely be fulfilled from a store which will be unsealed stock off the shelf and I've gotten some real nasty games with scuff marks and strange stains. EB ebay is 100% guaranteed to be shipped from the warehouse so you can order from there knowing it will be sealed (excluding Nintendo 1st party titles). As for in store purchases, most of the stock is unsealed unless they have left overs out the back. New releases are generally still sealed if you ask.

  • Can anyone attest to the quality difference from PS4 to XBOX ONE X. Bought it when it first came out on PS4, but have a ONE X now and this is a tempting offer to replay it again with all the bells and whistles.

    • x one x upgrade beats ps4 pro -but the f…ing power on off issue pisses me off.

      • power on off?
I am playing this on the X and it looks absolutely gorgeous….

      • Yeah, what?

Google says make sure you're not plugging it into a surge protected outlet because the X1S and X1X have a surge protector built in, and you'll limit the current draw below that required.
Google also says try a better power cable, the included one isn't rated for high enough current draw (UK article though.. so diff cord)

But I'm not sure I can find specifically what you're talking about

        • No plugged into wall - and cable not an issue. the power supply is the issue and hundreds of people have got it.

The rest is a crock of made up crap from the apple of the gaming world- badly specified power supply.

  • Amazing price for an amazing game.

  • Thanks OP, got mine price matched at JB

  • What would going back to the DLC be like now? I finished the game and traded the disk before any DLC came out. Could I just pick up where I finished up at the end of the game? Or is throughout the play through?

    • You can pick up where you left off.

      • -5

AFTER YOU TURN OFF THE POWER THEN TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN ON XBOX 1FFFX

  • Damn, I literally just bought this on PSN Store :(

    • On the bright side - you saved $3!

      • And no disc swapping, lol.

  • Are the dlc code or on the disc?

  • my store was almost out of stock, told me he had a large influx of buyers come in today! picked up a copy dirt cheap, thanks OP

  • Hobartians, in regards to the XB1 variant - don't bother going to Eastlands, they apparently can't find the 3 they're showing as having in stock. Shoreline had stock available.

  • Picked up one yesterday. Luckily I didn't fork out yet for the digital version on Jan sale. Thanks OP.

  • I picked this very title up pre-owned for $32 about ten days ago at EB, and considered it a great deal. This is an amazing price.
