Does this have AUS power prongs?

    • yes.

  • Should I be worried the fact it's CN standard?

    • +1

It wont meet australian standards. That means you're on your own if it burns your house down. Plenty of people take the risk.

      • So if I buy an iPhone overseas and use the US power adapter in Australia that means I'm on my own?

        • -1

Not even vaguely the same thing.

        • -1

          @Twilight:

But does it meet Australian standards?

What about a computer I bought overseas with a PSU. Does that meet Aus standards?

  • -7

Logically shouldn’t these be cheaper than the 3 socket xiaomi powerstrip with USB which was $13.30AUD?

    • +29

Logically, a sportscar with two seats should be half the price of a sedan with 4 or 5 seats.

        • +5

logically your logical logic was not logical before newdad's logical statement was logical.

      • Logically a sports car with smaller engine from the same manufacturer is usually cheaper.

    • Logically, yes. But this is Xiaomi.

      • +1

        Logically, it is both Xiaomi.

    What does "Wireless conversion" mean?

    • +6

Probably means there is no power cable attached lol, directly plugs into the socket.

Could work out worse for a dual wall socket as you would be blocking the second socket.

Could also work out worse for sockets in tight corners or squished up against furniture as there won’t be space to plug this large footprint powerstrip to it

Personally I prefer one with a power cable attached… and cheaper too lol

      • -2

Then don't buy one for a double socket or tight corner. Easy.

        • +2

Why are you getting negged for being 100% correct?

      • Luckily these have been designed for a specific use case where a traditional power board is not necessary.

    • +5

It means it's just a fancy double adapter, not a power board with a cable.

    Nah, I'm good. Thanks

Bad design. It is only really appropriate for single socket outlets. It basically plugs in the middle meaning you wont get access to a second socket if it is a dual outlet in the wall (Most outlets these days are). At least with the cable, you can still access the other socket for dual outlets.

    • It might be good for people who travel.

      • +3

Considered, and no. Often power points are in awkward places surrounded by furinture or against a wall. It wouldn't be a good choice for travel.

      • +2

I think the risks of not being able to plug it in while travelling are bigger than the extra space taken by the bigger corded version imo.

    • Bad design. It is only really appropriate for single socket outlets.

If its designed for a single socket outlet and fits perfectly, how is it a bad design?

      • -1

Most sockets these days are dual outlets. You basically lose a socket to gain another socket and a couple of USB ones. "Almost" useless really in this instance. If the legs were at the end of the board instead of the middle, would make way for the other socket in the wall outlet to be plugged in.

        • Except this is clearly designed for a single outlet, not a dual outlet. If you are buying this as its intended for a single outlet, its not useless at all.

Would you buy a motorcycle for a family of 6 and then complain about the design saying its a bad design because its not made for 6 people?

          @Orpheus:

Bad design. It is only really appropriate for single socket outlets

I already stated that. "Bad design" was my opinion given there are many double sockets out there that do not get in the way of the other way from being used. I literally pointed this out to other buyers who may have thought on similar grounds (obviously at least two have given 2 positive votes). So what's your problem?

    • I'm pretty sure it was designed to provide up to 3 total outlets, as well as two USB ports which usually require an adapter, leaving you with only one port left.

  • I ordered one to use for bathroom socket.
It is just a single socket, where I need two.
One each for my shaver and my wife's hair dryer.
I am going to replace my normal 2 socket adapter with this while I recently bought a new shaver with US plug.
However I am slightly worried about how the back of this plug is.
There is no photo of the back of the plug.
It will be pressing the wall switch If there is not enough room between the wall and socket itself.
If this is the case, this will be a common problem for any Australian plug I think.
I will see how it works once I receive it.

This will be upside down. Please report back when you get it in 1 month or later.

      • +3

Report back from the upside down?

    • +1

Seems you just want to make use of the multi-adapter sockets. There are other power boards that have such socket interface, no need to get this because it's Xiaomi. Especially when you're unsure of the actual plug. It says "CN standard" so could be an upside-down AU plug.

Personally for a bathroom, I'd use a power board with individual switches. I currently have an Arlec switched board plugged in, and the cable is tidied up nice and neat.

    • +2

I'd convert the single power point into a double switch. It's not too hard, three wires, all colour coded.

You need an electrician off course ;)

    • Based on the third photo and this link…should work fine in Aus.
      https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/32431236525.html?trace=wwwde…

    • I'm in the same boat as you, also ordered one and will see how it goes. I figured that I could always use it in other places if I can't place it in the bathroom.

  • the usb charging ports won’t be QC either …. have similar singe to double adapters and they are about $3 each if you can live without the usb ports …. better off with QC charger form gearbest / banggood and power board or double adapter from bunnings .

if the power points were part of their home automation, that would make it appealing.

  • Would I be right in assuming it is not WiFi enabled? Think there is a 3 outlet one coming out that is.

    • No it doesnt.

  • Buy Safe

Not that expensive that it mandates buying a safe.

  • does it fit Australian double powerpoints correctly?

  • Probably need to replace powerpoint with one of these https://www.gearbest.com/plugs-sockets/pp_345975.html
