LG 24" Full HD IPS Dual HDMI LED Monitor ($198) and LG 27" Full HD IPS Dual HDMI LED Monitor ($297) @ Harvey Norman

90

After searching for a decent monitor, I managed to find the LG 24" Full HD IPS Dual HDMI LED Monitor for $198 at Harvey Norman. They didn't have any stock in my area so I went to JB HI-FI and they were more than happy to price match.

Personally, I think its a pretty good deal due to the specs. I put both Harvey Norman and JB HI-FI so that it will be more convenient for you to see if it's available. These monitors are the same in terms of specs, it's just that one is larger and more expensive than the other.

If there isn't a HN store nearby, then you can try getting it shipped for free with Shipster.

  • Tempting, but at 27" and IPS you'd be be served with a higher resolution. Still waiting for one in an acceptable price range (i.e not $600).

      • Is this viewsonic good enough for photo editing? Really tempted by the price.

Hardly any reviews online. Can anyone give a little feedback regarding this monitor please.

No idea, i don't think photo editing and budget monitors go well, but the gamut of IPS are pretty good, don't expect heaps of settings…

        • I've had a 22" Viewsonic for 7 years and it's not faulted me. As with anything though a colour calibration will help it.
People seem pretty happy with this screen so far.

          Excerpts:
          - Monitor calibration now complete (basic calibration, pro calibration would take all night). The gamut coverage seems lower to me than what it should be, which probably results from me starting the calibration with the monitor set up too dim… kind of a personal habit for me… I like my display less dimly lit than most people. I will redo calibration with the monitor set to what DisplayCAL would like.
          - After running calibration set for Gamma 2.2, DisplayCAL reports just over 70% of sRGB space. This is a solid result for an 8-bit IPS monitor. Often higher manufacturer figures get quoted for a screen that, when push comes to shove, are just not realisable in the real world with a calibrator.
          - I intend to do another calibration later, with user set RGB values and Contrast set to 70% as the panel wanted while in its sRGB mode. Or, I may not. Even though sRGB mode did not give the ideal white balance the calibrator wanted, the color results are just too damn good anyway.
          - With this monitor, at a distance of 70-75cm from the screen, there is no visible IPS glow effect.
          - Back light bleed: Wow… just exceptional. I have seen more bleed in monitors 3X the price of this.

        • @promethbastard:

          Thanks guys!

  • Be careful if you need vesa mount. Not all the LGs have mounts. (Learnt the hard way, but nothing gaffer tape couldn’t solve :P.

  • Thanks for this. I got one from jb yesterday. the software provided in the cd doesn't load on win10. did it work for you?

    • Try downloading the drivers from the LG website. The software isn't supported for me because the monitor is connected to a macbook pro
