    • Look at the full listings, there's a few..

  • site slow

  • $40 delivery to SYD. Forget it!

    • +2

That's pretty normal shipping for monitors.

  • GSYNC, 165hz, IPS, 1440p… That PG279Q is awfully tempting, but I'm gonna resist… It's a good deal for anyone else who missed out on a similar deal last year.

Too expensive for demo units no thanks

    • Yeah I would want more than 15% off to tempt me to buy an ex-demo. Not a bargain IMO.

      • It's more than 15% off
        Example Asus MG279Q:
Base price $795 (non-demo). Same monitor at PCCG: $779
List price for demo product $559
        Stack 15% off = $475

        Final Price / Base price = 59% (i.e. 40% off)

$1049.80 (+post) for next cheapest on staticice for the PG279Q makes $679.15 a decent deal …….. as long as they're willing to provide a decent warranty on it still. and it does mention 1 yr warranty on the page

Title should read "Ex-Demo Monitors at BudgetPC with 15% Coupon Code - ASUS PG279Q $679" instead of mentioning a freebie cheapo powerbank

  • Looks like it's gone already? Getting 404 errors. Was tempted with the PG279Q because of the price.

Any advice on another 27,Ips,1440 monitor? Also which is more important, 1440 or 144hz? Currently running a GTX 960 only. Game I normally play is Dota 2. Any help would be great thanks.

Gsync is more important for someone with your video card.

      • OK thanks for the tip, guess with it being "low-medium" end, important for monitor to refresh at the same rate as the GPU.
Still on the fence as I looked (Thanks Rochie!) its there but shipping is $71, bringing down the savings bit more.

Just search the monitor on the website still comes up. Honestly if I didnt just buy a cheap secondhand one of my mate I would jumo on this. Many people say this is hands down the best gaming monitor out.

  • [LIMITED STOCK] ONE unit per customer. Pre-order only.

    1 year warranty.

    For pg279q

  • Any suggestions for a 144hz 1920x1080?🤒Preferably features such as increasing low light areas

  • How could you guys tell that the PG279Q monitor was out of stock?

  • Not too sure .. maybe there was an issue with the original link.

    Maybe try these ones ?

    • So wondering if $799 plus $50 postage for Pg279q to Brisbane is a good deal for they are EX DEMO.

  • Ex demo monitors and some of these panels have very low refresh rates yet their prices can be very high.

  • Can someone tell me how reliable these ex-demo monitors are?
Also if there is dead-pixels on them, how many to guarantee an exchange.

    • +1

They could have been turned on all day, every day since release or only once in a while, who knows. It's a gamble.

Most monitor brands including ASUS have a high allowance for dead pixels considering how much they blemish the experience.
Last time I checked with my PG278Q it was anywhere between 3-5 dead pixels depending on how old they are and if they are bright or dark dead pixels.

It'd be best if you can check them out in person and pick the best one. If not, I wouldn't risk all the kerfuffle and money doing return postages to get the right one.

      • They could have been turned on all day, every day since release or only once in a while, who knows. It's a gamble.

Surely these monitors are rated to last 10+ years/50000 hours, so leaving them on 24/7 for a year will have an impact, but probably not noticeable unless comparing next to a brand new one.

Also, in terms of re-sale value (for those that upgrade their high end monitors every few years), this would probably sell for higher than you bought it for if you omitted the fact that it was ex-demo. In 3-4 years time they wouldn't have lost much value (compared to a new one) too. Seems like a decent buy.

mg279q Looks nice for the price.

    • Just bought a monitor (MG279Q - 144hz 1440p IPS) which is famous for back-light bleed and dead pixels.

I was on the market for a Crossover 144 Fast (same panel, crappier stand and 1 year international warranty) which was the same price ($510~)

I got the MG279Q for the same price plus a power bank (not gonna use that though) and same warranty (1 year), so seems like a good deal to me.

Very minimal backlight bleed in lower right 1/16th of screen, (wouldn't see it unless in a pitch black room. even in a very dark room you can't see it)
Only one "dead" pixel, which is grey and near the edge. I didn't even find it until about 3-4 minutes of pixel searching.

So if you're looking for a good 1440p 144hz 27", you could get the mg278Q or mg279q. They seem to still have a whole bunch in stock!
