  • How much is it normally?

    • +2

$718.96 last time. Not hard to find the previous deal he refers to.

Not hard to find the previous deal

        Shouldn't have to…

OP should state why this is a bargain.

  • This is a really good deal. Unfortunately I bought one a few days ago. :-(

  • +2

Fantastic camera and lens to get into photography with and for enthusiasts.

A real bargain at this price.

  • I upgraded to this camera with a 12-35mm 2.8 lens from a 5D mk IIII. Love it.

    • What do you do/ use for mic input?

      • +1

I just use the built in mic. Sound is not that good but portability is my priority. The dual stabilisation is really good. Video recording beats the 5D.

      • +1

If sound is a concern you can always get a zoom H1 for $120-140 and a shock mount for $10 to mount it on the hotshoe.

  • How does this compare with the A6000?

    • I was thinking the same. YouTube doesn’t have real good comparisons.

    • +1

      A6000 has
-larger 24 megapixel APSC sensor, better for larger prints and low light photos
-Phase detect autofocus means faster autofocus for action

      But GX85 has
-IBIS (means all lens are stablised)
      -4k video
      -touch screen
-cheaper and wider range of lens

      • some lenses are stabilised, some aren't. I think you're refering to gx85 having in camera stabilisation. This camera, when used with panasonic stabilised lenses can combine the two systems for even greater stabilisation

    • This one compares with A6300, pretty detail comparison

    • +2

Forget about anything other than micro four thirds if you want affordable lenses.

    • +2

Without going into details just get this Panny - can't beat for this price.

Comes with 2 lenses as well.

      • i second that, the Panny is unbeatable for the price. you're effectively paying less than $300 (as the lens combined are worth $350-$400) for a body with dual 5 axis IBIS, 4K video etc
And as mentioned above, micro four thirds has by far the best lens selection of any mirrorless format. Miles more variety, plus better quality and cheaper lens as well

      • I got the previous A6000 deal with the $150 cashback. The order is still pending so I'm not sure if its worth cancelling and getting this deal.

        • sell the 25mm lens, checked ebay the price is around $200 for the lens.

        • Definitely cancel it.

        • @bonbon: That's funny; I'd sell the 12-32 :) The 25mm is a good lens and small.

        • @poohduck:

oh yes, that might be better option ;)

        • +1

          @poohduck:

Same, I rather keep 25mm for low light prime performance.

      • The pro lenses listed above are fairly big for micro 4/3rds. Both olympus and panasonic have great value great lenses that are smaller. In olympus I have 25mm f1.8 and 45mm f1.8, both cheap and small. The one pro lens I did buy is the 45-150 f2.8. The panasonic 25mm f1.7 that you get as a bonus is a keeper.

If I could get a deal on the body itself, I would grab this. It is one of the smallest bodies and still has viewfinder and lots of features and great camera.

  • And this compare with Olympus omd 1?

    • Not a fair comparison - very different price point.

    • And the OM-D E-M1 is heavier and larger. The gx85 is quite small in comparison.

      • Should compare with em10 then. I'll google it. This is cheaper but if isn't superior than em10 then I won't buy it. I had em10 before but sold it because I want better quality but cheaper. I don't mind waiting.

        • Pulled the trigger after reading the positive review from the legendary reviewer Steve huff.. http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2016/06/24/shooting-with-the-p…

        • Are you speaking in terms of better quality photos? It has a lot to do with the lense that you use. The 25mm that comes as a bonus takes some sweet pics, the 12-32mm isn't spectacular tho.

        • @cheapsuit: hmm yes quality photo, also better battery, and i feel my omd em10 was producing too soft in sharpness and colour - or maybe because like you said i was using budget lenses.

        • @dragonindespair: GX85 does not have a low pass filter. That is why images are sharper.

        • @ca6leguy:

I am upgrading from a NEX 6 with some issues, had been looking at alternatives with IBS, no low-pass filter (usually on high end models) and cheaper lenses. I know I will be sacrificing low light IQ and EVF but I am happy to give it a go due to the good prices.

        • @hippo2s: The catch is, if you buy lenses, you're starting to invest in a system. That means panasonic / olympus. I believe it is a good system with some great cheap small lenses. A well reviewed zoom is olympus 12-40mm f2.8 - which in this system is 24-80mm.

        • @poohduck: that zoom lens does not have stabilisation. Get the Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8 if you do not need manual focus.

  • Anyone have free shipping code?

  • Bought one thanks

    • Hi, did you find a free shipping code?

      • No :(

  • Thanks OP,

Got one although I went with the twin kit. The extra lens for $140 more was worth it for me.

Can also use these on my gh4 so win win.

  • Just got my 25mm lense a few days ago after buying from Ryda around a month ago. Great piece of glass! Very good buy at this price.

    • I also bought from Ryda at beginning of last Month but still have not receieved my 25mm yet :(

Anyway, glad you are enjoying it.

      • +1

Shouldn't be too much longer. The 25mm is miles ahead of the 12-32mm, you're gonna love it!
