Acer 27" Predator XB272 Full HD TN Gaming Monitor /W G-Sync - $638 + Delivery/Click & Collect @ Harvey Norman

140

If you have the amex offer available this is an even more fantastic deal! I've been on the look out for a gaming monitor for a while and found this. Specs are good for the price, only downside I probably won't purchase it is due to 1920x1080 resolution instead of 2560x1440. For the price though this monitor is a solid gaming monitor.
Specs:
27" Full HD (1920 x 1080) Widescreen with NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology
Refresh Rate: 240Hz - Using Display Port
Response Time: 1ms, Pixel Pitch: 0.3113mm
16:9 Aspect Ratio

Seems pricey for a 1080p TN panel? I know the predator is supposed to be a good monitor but the resolution seems a bit low for a 27".

The 1080p is probably the only thing holding me back from purchasing this. However, this is a g-sync monitor and most 27" g-sync monitors are $800+. TN panels are typically used in most gaming monitors due to lower input lag.

240Hz and G-Sync keeps the price high.

    • I was going to say the same, but it's a 240Hz monitor instead of a 'standard' 144hz.
Probably worth it to top end gamers.

      • ah yes 240hz and 1080p makes sense. What sort of games would need frame rates that high??

        • Mostly CS:GO players would want that uber fast frame-rate for fast-twitch aiming

        • @scrimshaw: Yeah 240hz only really benefits some pro gamers I would think, 144hz is sufficient for any non-pro gamer.

    • New TN LCD technology has come a long way in the last few years. They now can do true 8 bit colour depth (same as IPS) and have improved viewing angles (still not close to IPS). A good TN panel like this could be better than an average IPS panel.

id love to see a study of people noticing the difference between 144 and 240 hz, even 90 - 144 hz would be interesting.

    But yeah, 1080p …..
