…any idea when 'punch' code expires?

    • +3

      Tonight 11.59pm

  • Sony KD75X8500E 75" UHD HDR LED Android TV $3145 or a 65" OLED???????????

    • +2

      Oled for sure

    • +2

      I'd go the bigger screen.

      • Think that’d be my preference as well.

    • Haha, that's the exact argument I have in my head…'better blacks'…..oh wait, 'bigger screen'.

      • 65 OLED, those deep blacks dude.

        • Most people don't sit close enough to the screen to appreciate UHD so I'd vote for 75". 33% more viewing area, you definitely ain't getting 33% blacker blacks!

        • @derfel.cadarn:

But they're both UHD, aren't they?

        • @derfel.cadarn:

Once you see OLED blacks, every else looks like really dark grey.

        • +1

          @juiciness:

A good LCD can come close (not this model though or for this price).

        • +1

@juiciness: oled or not depends whether u watch in bright room or dark room.

        • +1

          @gasman70:

Yeap, hence the larger screen will allow the persons watching to be farther away from the screen and still enjoy the resolution.

I mean if you don't mind sitting 2.5m away and appreciate colour accuracy then 65" is a good buy. IF you sit further away (say 3-4m) then the 75" might be better. At 3-4m away if you insist on OLED then you might as well get an 1080p OLED 65" instead and save some money (not sure if it exists though!)

        • @boohooimissout:

          Bright room

        • +1

          @gasman70: that's a led for sure.
Oled has deeper black that is appreciated more when watching in the dark.
Its not very good at maximum brightness. Also will shorten its lifespan.

With your current TV, do you need it to be brighter or darker?

The Samsung qled is even better at bright room.

Save the money to mount the TV and get a soundbar.

    • I have an XboX One X, so responsiveness is important, I suppose.

      • be better if it just powered up all the time

  • Hisense or LG

    • +2

      I'm waiting Hisense 65N7 around $1400

  • I was hoping to get the 75 inch for $3k… this and cash rewards brings it pretty close , Urgh decisions

Bought the soundbar for $259.20 yesterday.
Easy to setup and very good sound quality.

I'm watching my Sony KD75X8500D right now.

It fills a hole in my heart I never knew I had.

    • Do you do any gaming on it?

Have the 55X9300D and getting an Xbox for it soon, a bit worried about the input lag.

Apparently there was a update that improved 4K HDR lag after release, hoping that's the case.

Otherwise they're beautiful TVs and get really bright with HDR, looks stunning.

      • That is the Sony's flagship for last year so I would be very confident that your TV would be very good for gaming.
        I believe it is a 120Hz panel.

        "He likes to game" :-)

        • Yeah I know it was their flagship, but the 4K HDR input lag was really high pre-update.

        • @Scab:

OK, not sure regarding issues pre-update however RTings has given it a very good review though.
          https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x930d
          x930d US = AU X9300D

Edit: Can you revert back to the older Firmware by any chance?

          Cheers

        • @vinni9284:

Yeah I've seen that, but one of the cons they listed was "Average-high input lag".

      • Yes I do - Xbox one X and PS 4 pro. No problems at all with input lag, although i am 40 and so presume my fast twitch reflexes are not what they used to be!

        • Lol.. mate … 40yo is still young!

  • Such a shame that there was no deals on the 75" Sony x9000e during boxing day sales. I should have picked one up on November with the ebgames/Sony store promo when they had it for $3999. None of the retailers are willing to go below $4.5K at the moment. Looks as though Sony is pushing their edge-lit TVs like the 8500e and 6700e instead when it comes to 75-inch models which definitely isn't for me. Guess I will have to wait it out for another few months and hope that it pops up on clearance.

    • +2

I was in Harvey Norman yesterday and they have the Sony 75 inch 9000e for $3999. It’s not on their online website but it is in store. I have take a photo of the price tag as well if you need it for a price match etc. You can give them a call and check the price as well.

      • Which Harvey Norman?

        • +1

Castle Hill NSW. PM your email address and I will send you a photo of the price tag and you can take it to JB/Good Guys etc for a price match.

        • @yallaboys: oh I’m in vic, I’ll try anyways, wife has given the ok done the 85s have sold out I’ll see how it go lol
Edit no idea how to pm on the Mobile, I’ll try on the desk top later thanks

        • +1

@yallaboys: yeah I can’t pm you, can you just post it here? Or even as a separate deal? I’ll be sure to plus vote it :)

        • +1

@yallaboys: No need. My local Harvey Norman gave me a call back and told me that yes indeed they do have the KD75X9000E on sale for $3995. I then told them that I had a $500 gift card with JB Hi-Fi so I will most likely get JB to match HN's price unless he could take $500 off the sale price (effectively bringing it down to $3500). He said he will need to speak to his manager to see what they can do. He came back and he said the lowest they can possibly go is $3745 as they are effectively selling them below cost. I said if he throws in delivery, I will take it today which he agreed to. After using the $200 EFTPOS card from the Optus $59 iPhone plan from HN a couple of weeks ago, I ended up paying $3545 delivered and still had a spare $500 JB Hi-Fi gift card leftover that I will most put towards a 4K Blu-Ray player and an Apple TV.

Thanks again for alerting me @yallaboys to the deal in the first place! Never thought that today would be the day that I finally buy one of these!

        • You are lucky mate, they would only go down to $3895 best price for me so I ended up pricing matching the 10% ebay sale and bought the 75" 8500E instead.

        • @yallaboys: Yeah I know, I was pretty stoked about the price. It's being delivered tomorrow. Now the challenge of wall mounting this beast begins. Thanks again!

        • called up my local, he's doing $3890, not as good as merajaan's deal but i'm ok with it all things considered.
Apparently its $3999 on sale at most HV atm.
Only diff I can see from the specs from the 8500 is the local dimming and direct LED, not sure it that's worth $745 but at least i can still get it…more importantly wife caved and said yes lol

        • @bowtiehoon: man the 75inch boxes are big! No way it would fit my suv. Luckily I managed to whinge my way into free Delivery…

      • Hi mate, which HN store was this and are you sure that it was the 9000e? I called to ask my local HN but they are selling it for $5,000! They said they can price match but they have to know the store name so they can verify.

        • Castle Hill & Liverpool NSW are both selling it for $3,995. PM your email address and I'll send you the photo of the price tag I took.

        • @yallaboys: Hi, is it possible to get a copy of the photo please :)

      • Hey yallaboys, i’ll take a photo of that too please. For some reason I cannot send you a message. Cheers, Muz

    • Nothing much for the 65x9000e either… Waiting waiting

  • Sony KD75X8500E is sold out :(

    • +1

Nooooooooo…talk about don’t know what you want till it’s gone lol

  • went and got one from JB HiFi as i bought $1000 in vouchers from the paypal deal comes out to 3400 delivered, not as good as this deal but i took the gamble with the gift cards which i wont do next time :)

    • When did you buy this - JB will pricematch for 30 days after you buy - they don't advertise like The Good Guys, but they do do it. I've had them refund the difference a few times before.

      • i dont think anywhere will be price matching a ebay discount coupon though! :)

Hi first timer here (I'm Ozbargain long time browser, first time user) - just can't help to notice that there is an error in the description. The Sony KD70X6700E or 6700E series is not using Android TV. It's listed in Sony site as Linux OS (never heard of it and never experience it before). It is also a native 50Hz panel. Hope this helps.

  • There is one negative review on JB for the Sony KD70X6700E regarding lip-sync issues.
Anyway, it is a fantastic price.
I believe that the PUNCH voucher max discount = $300 so most of these are covered unless you go over $3K
    Cheers

  • Got the Samsung HW-M450 last night. Very happy! So much better then TV speakers.

    Bargain at $260.
