First Post.

Couldn't believe this price on the WH-1000XM2's when I saw it. Didn't ask about stock levels or other kiosks. Just went straight to JB Hi Fi Castle Towers and price matched using the 15% vouchers from the other week.

Other models;
WI-1000X $277
WHH900N $220
MDRXB950BT $118

Been lurking as a closet ozbargainer for nearly two years. Knew people would ask.

        • +1

@All The Fire: And you didn't ask for people to be gentle, very noice

  • What????… MMMMmmmmm

  • Wow!

  • Nice find

  • +1

Same at kiosk in Westfield Chatswood.

  • Nice, did you see others on sale too like WI-1000x?

    • +1

$277, not sure if a good price, haven't been following this model.

  • I bought this last week from jb for 400. Whats the chance of them refunding the difference?

    • Return and re-purchase otherwise. Easy

      • I've already opened and used it? Is that still possible?

        • No

        • +1

He's suggesting to buy another one at the lower price then return it with the receipt that came with the higher priced item.

        • @ChillBro: JB normally not do non-faulty refund. his risk to get 2 items finally

        • +1

          @John Kelvin:

Actually they do, you can return if change of mind.

        • @squaredonut: I used to have bad experience with JB Chadstone, they refused my return. so it really depends

        • @John Kelvin:

Well I think it depends on the item, but i looked at their policy guide a while ago and it lets you return within 30 days

        • @ChillBro: right, good news

  • Mods, promote this man to Power User. What a bargain!

  • Did they fix the hiss when there's no music playing? My #1 gripe. Tested both Sony Kiosk and JB Hi-Fi demo units. Both had the hissssssssss

    • I didn't know this issue existed on the Sonys although I have had this issue on my Plantronics.

Have you tried the QC35s by any chance? Did you notice it on those too?

      • +1

QC35 is dead quiet when no music is playing in comparison. Like being in a semi-vacuum

        • Yeah, alright then. If you've tried both, I guess it is an issue only for the Sonys.

        • @ChillBro: The only 2 reasons I didn't get the Sony was the stronger head clamping (not good for translantic flights) and that hiss. It's like a 1990s headphone hiss.

    • I really hope that can be fixed by a software update. This is an excellent price, these beat the QC35 for me except for that hiss..

    • Hiss comes with the AI noise cancelling function. choose your own NC level, and there is no hiss at all.

      • That's the problem. You want the best AI so you put it up, and it hisses. The QC35 doesn't behave like this at max NC.

        • +1

I own both, and 10+ years of bose QC user. Now the one goes with me most of the trips is the sony one. No other reason, just better sound and same quality NC. Specially after 80 hr use, you will notice the sound quality difference.

  • I've been umming and ahhing about these headphones for a while and whether I can really justify them considering I don't do much flying or commuting at the moment.. but it's getting harder to resist.

    • +6

Buy now, justify the purchase later. Worked for me. :D

      • Cognitive dissonance can work wonders.

  • Op, any tv sales at the Kiosk?

    • Really unsure, they had lots of boxing day signs up around the whole kiosk though. Couldn't stick around long, got to get the wife into the city.

  • +3

Which places in Melb have a kiosk?

  • +2

Anyone succeeded in matching this price in other JB stores?

    Thanks

    • Curious if jb in WA will price match?

      • It's not advertised anywhere, so I doubt they will PM it. Though it will depend on who you talk to.

They would need to ring the store to verify it.

  • Everytme I see OP on these items they get lower and lower. Thought 355, 330,329 now 317 if you can find a kiosk. Be good if JB price match.

  • +4

Tried to get a price match at jb on Elizabeth melb, the girl there wouldn’t go down. Gonna try the one in Melbourne central next

    • Please let me know if any JB store in Melb does price match! Thanks!

      • +1

Abort mission bois. The one in MC didn’t even have stock. Seems everyone working there already fed up with the crowd so I didn’t hang long.

        • +1

Just called South Wharf store, said they are too busy to help me check whether they can do it and asked me to come to the store in person.

    • +1

No many girls like to go down, especially not in public.

  • FUUUURRRK. I paid $449 at JB Hi-Fi on the 23rd Dec 2017.

    • +2

Never buy anything near full price. You know they'll go on sale one day. You should know this if you're on OzB!!!

      • Agreed.

I just checked my JB receipt, I bought it on the 21st Dec 2017. JB Hi-Fi wouldn't give me 1 cent discount off $449 LOL

To think I almost got the Bose QC-35 II for $499 before the Sony won me over in most categories of comparison.

It was a XMAS gift for my missus before she had to fly out interstate for family reasons on the 22nd Dec. I was kinda in a rush. But my fault for not checking OZB first :)

    • +1

      @ Davoski
When did you join Ozbargain?? :)

      • Must be today

  • $100 Sony survey coupon Should work for this right?

  • JB should be able to match. Should have grabbed some of those 15% off gift cards. It's been ages since JB has had any real bargains, price matching is the only way with them these days and would have been nice with the extra 15% off..

    • +2

      $ 317 - 15% = 269.45 - (further 10% TRS claim if you travelling overseas) = $ 237.75 . *Dreamin'

      • Only of you have the overall value over $300

        • +1

The invoice will still showing as $317 as the 15% Gift card doesnt affect the Sony's price

      • Unfortunately wasn't quite that cheap for me as I only had $200 in the e gift cards. The rest was paid for with another voucher received as a Christmas present. And I have some other gift cards still lying around that I could have used instead… Trying not to think about the numbers, just enjoying the bargain.

        • +1

Trying not to think about the numbers, just enjoying the bargain.

          Hand out your OZB membership

        • Alrighty, I suppose you have to assume gift cards given as presents effectively become your own cash. $287 paid.

    • It seems that JB isn't price matching.

      • +2

If there is a Sony kiosk nearby I don't see why they cant. If Sony can make profit at this price then surely JB can as well. And if you show them the JB receipt above I would love to know their excuse for why some of their JB stores can price match and they wont do it? The other thing is sometimes you need to try different staff members. I have only ever had one difficult time getting a price match, eventually found someone who did it for me. My local store has been great over the years and I have scored some great bargains.

        • Talked to the manager. Said they only do it for a local competitor. And there isn’t a Sony kiosk in melb. Bummer! Had to walk 30 mins all for naught

    • Just found out today there are jbhifi gift cards for sale at Harris scarfe, so if you have not used your amex $60 get $20 back there's still time, expiring 31 Dec.

  • Southland JB HiFi didn't couldn't price match this for anyone wondering.

    • Did you try manager. Jbhi policy is that they are meant to be keen to do deals.

      • I didn't.
But the guy there was pretty firm that they only match local retail stores.

  • +1

I feel sorry for the sad folks who may have just paid like $450 or $499 for the WH-1000XM2 at retailers. Some peoples just don't shop around.

    • Why feel sorry? They clearly have too much money.

      • +1

I dont feel remotely sorry for people thst choose to pay retail. They are either A. Flush with disposable income and can afford to or B. Are fools. (A fool and their money are soon parted)

  • Where can I get a WI-1000X in Brisbane? There is no Sony Kiosk here. And it seems JB won't price match.

    • Funny how some JB stores supposedly can't price match Sony itself.

    • I actually still got a Sony survey 500-100 voucher can be used in Sony store.
is there anyone in Sydney interested to combine with their WH-1000XM2 (WI-1000X)? So we can both have $50 discount.

      • Yes, count me in, we can meet up at CBD.

        PM me for contact details

        • Sorry, I didn't mention I live in Brisbane :(
Could you post me the WI-1000X?

  • Is there any chance you saw whether the MDR100ABNs were discounted? :)

  • Now I want to see if I can get one at a Sony store for $317 in Melbourne. Anyone have any luck?

    • Wondering the same, is there a sony kiosk in Melb?

      • +1

    • Head there, and let the rest of us know.

  • Sony kiosk says wrong price (castle towers)

    • Whaaat?!

      • +2

Yeh, I asked, they took the price down already. Said it was a price error.
        Jbhifi doesn't know though

        • Whats the correct price? Should be at least $329

        • @Dedbny:
          They said 399 I think

    • Surely if they have it up as on pricelist they should honor it. What are they saying now is the correct price. Even the normal price was $$397. Which is way lower than their retisl price.

    • Just goto jb hifi ( castle towers)

      • Nah, I'm good, was going to bite if I could use the $100 Sony voucher too

  • +1

Sadly, Fountain Gate JB Hifi didn't price match. Did anyone match the price? If so what did you say or do to make it happen?

    • +2

Hey guys, I got price match at Dandenong Plaza JB HiFi.
The manager was really generous and a fellow Ozbarganer.
I mistakenly told him that AddictedToAudio was selling it for $226 and he was like but then I was like $326 and he was still ok with it. I could’ve gotten these for $226 but whatever.
Whoever is close, get in now. The manager is an awesome guy and there were a couple of them and didn’t even look at the ATA price.
P.S. He said it was only for today and he said I could get away with it for today.

  • +2

I called all three in Sydney. The headphones are now 399

    • That sucks, hope someone else was able to grab it. I'll mark this as expired.

      • Yeah I got excited when there were three at Parra. Tried to pay on the phone and then mid convo some new salesman intervened and said the price changed.

The second guy made a big deal about ozbargain even though it had nothing to do with our interaction.

  • Just called Parramatta, they said NO DEAL… $399
