For those who took up the Amex life insurance offer for 20k points, it's time to cancel if you don't need the policy.
I believe you'll have to call them up to cancel your policy. I've yet to figure out a way to cancel online.

I will let you know if they respond to my email. They've probably shutdown for Christmas
they only recently (after following up for ages) awarded me the 20k points. wonder if i'll be eligible.
that said i was one of the ones who prepaid a years coverage as it was cheap for what it was.. so probably best others cancel in another 4 or so months and enjoy the full year's coverage?
Wasn't it 7 months? 1st month was free plus pay for 6 - as I think that the offer was for "6 debits".
But still good to keep an eye on cancelling.
I called to cancel. They said email was [email protected]. Need a signed copy requesting the cancel.
Im leaving Amex so dont care about them wanting the 20K back.
I'm leaving Amex
A lot of your comments are Amex related (as are mine), what's the reason behind this?
Oh, only reason is just to reset the 18 month clock. I really love Amex and the benefits it gives. Also have earned crap loads of referrals to friends etc. But I think its time for me to part ways, at least for 18 months, then apply for hopefully a 100K+ bonus at the end of the tunnel.
Fair enough. Hopefully you don't miss out on too much in the 18 months!
Signed copy of what document?
Just a typed out a letter that says "Dear Zurich, I wish to cancel my insurance policy #####. Thanks"?
Yes exactly that. I also mentioned when the cancellation should start from i.e. date you sent the letter.
Thanks OP.
For those of you who paid yearly, it may be best not to cancel the policy. I cancelled after 6 months and I got 5k points deducted. Maybe it needs to be 7 months but I'm waiting for a response from AmEx.
Not sure why that would be the case?
Not sure either but the points reversal was linked to the partial refund on the activity statement.
Let us know the outcome from amex.
@bohn: They didn't say why but I finally saw the 5k points credited back.
Excellent.
@somebodyhere: hi somebodyhere so what did you do to get the 5k points back? do i need to call amex?
@coolsteps: Yes call them up. It took almost a month. I followed up many times but if you're lazy I suspect that the points will eventually be credited anyway after about a month or so. Just say the T&C says you can cancel after 6 months. Most likely 5k got reversed because we got 1 month free, but the T&C doesn't say that we need to wait 7 months if we get 1-month free.
same happened to me I cancelled after 6 months and I got 5k points deducted. i wish i had waited another 1 month for 5k if i knew. how do they go about getting the 5 k back if your cards are on velocity or qantas? do they deduct from future points earned?
