This wasn’t really advertised but I signed onto qantas’ new in flight wifi. If you navigate to the entertainment tab you’re able to get 3 months free Netflix even if you’re already subscribed. There’s also 3 months free Stan. for new subscribers.

my employer supplies some of the kit to viasat
Wow that's probably more bandwidth per seat than the average home NBN subscriber.
If I find the modem on the plane, can I take it home as a souvenir? 😉with a goal
Uh huh …
That's what NBNCo said…. An aim of 100mbps per a household…
In this case its a goal based on the expected number of active seats and the spot beam bandwidth (each satellite supports about 80gbps, over 100 or so spot beams, so a single beam would be expected to get about 800mbps). Don't forget the latency and heavy asymmetry of the links….
Oh ok thanks very helpful
Ok thanks for the info
How about international flight?
No wifi on Qantas Intl services
So you have to fly via qantas so you spend more then what 3 months is worth?
So Qantas is the cheapest way to fly?
Ah. Dang. No wifi joy for me on my flight today. Hopefully the deal is still on, and I get on the right plane, next time I travel…..
Thanks for this! I'm flying from Canberra to Perth right now and using Qantas free wifi. Just a heads up, I couldn't connect at all at the beginning of the flight and only managed to sign in later by manually entering the homepage URL which is qantas.viasat.com . You're asked to enter your name and seat number, then you can find the Netflix deal on the entertainment page. $29.97 was credited to my account. Woohoo! Hoping to add more credit on the flight back too.
lucky you. the URL did not work on my flight back from Gold Coast. tried multiple devices.
attendant says the wifi hits and misses on the flight. : (
Can confirm it's still valid - on a BNE-SYD flight right now and successfully redeemed. Thanks OP.
3 flights melb to perth over last few weeks and none had wifi on board :(

Because it's been common knowledge since early 2016 that they were using the NBN:
