Lifetime Plex Pass for USD $74.99 or AUD $99.99

800

I got an email from Plex offering the Lifetime Plex Pass for USD $74.99 with a unique coupon code linked to my email. When you click the link to "Redeem Code", it automatically converts the currency to AUD at a value of AUD $99.99. Not the best currency conversion rate but Im not complaining as the usual price is AUD $159.99.

If you are a long time user of Plex, but do not have a paid subscription, you may be sent the unique code. Check your email's junk folder. I was offered this twice in the last 6 months, but missed the dateline as the email was in my junk folder and the coupon had expired before I could use it.

Hope this is useful for those considering a Plex Pass subscription

So few people get this its not really worth posting.

    I'd love a code though! :P

    • -8

800 clicks in 4 hours seems worthy, to me.

Abd no + but want a code?

      Merry xmas, indeed.

      • Are you serious?

        This is a unique code.

NOBODY could use it, it works for zero people.

800 people clicked and looked at a code that doesn't work.

I've overlooked my email and missed out on the over too. Haven't got any lifetime pass email after that last email from them. :(

    • Yeah, I'm in the same position. It's good to know other people have gotten it more than once - I'll keep watching my inbox just in case!

      • I've been using Plex since 2015 and received the code for the first time.

  • “The server is not powerful enough to convert video“

I think my plex server gets less powerful by the day

    • Tell your clients to use openpht.

    • I also think this happens with each new release

    • I use a NAS, the Synology DS415+, to run my Plex server. It allows me to to access my media content 24/7 instead having to keep my desktop PC on all the time.

The services Plex offers seems to be growing all the time. Hopefully by investing in the Lifetime Plex Pass at a good price, it will pay for itself when the subscription gets more expensive and unaffordable in the future.

  • +1 to missing it last time as I wasn't able to access email. I asked them to resend a code, and they "couldn't".

I don't even know if it's worth getting the lifetime pass anymore.

    • Why not? (I've already got lifetime pass).

      • Plex has been a bit buggy for quite a few people recently, such as not displaying subtitles, video feed crashing or not loading even when using a i7 7700k processor and other similar issues.

For some users (myself included) it's starting to feel like updates aren't as stable as they used to be, and you should treat Plex like your bios, and only update it if you actually need to.

        • Don't know if coincidence or not but recently I updated my Plex Media Server to their latest update/version.
I watched 1 movie after the update, and during playback I noticed several stuttering for some reasons - as in the picture froze for few seconds then 'caught up' afterwards with the 'catching up' scenes played really fast, if that makes sense.

Never happened before, although admittedly it may not be Plex (and its latest version) fault because there are several components in my setup.

          NAS -> Ethernet -> HTPC -> Plex -> PlexKodiConnect (Kodi Add-on) -> Kodi -> Receiver -> TV

AFAIK, the only thing that changed was the version of the Plex got updated.

Not sure if anyone experience the same.

        • @OzFrugie: Sorry, but I can't help with that.

I had an issue with several videos not loading, or stopping partway through. Turns out setting the Plex Transcoder to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8 fixed it, so the solutions can be quite strange.

By the sounds of it though, you shouldn't be having issues since everything is running over LAN, do I'd assume that it's a Plex issue, but it could also be Kodi, I hope you can fix it!

Because the developers put tens of thousands of hours into their free product?

      • To be fair, it isn't free, it's shareware.

Any user who actively uses Plex is going to have to buy access for devices such as Android, or a Plex pass eventually.

While it's completely usable without paying, that doesn't make it free software. That's like saying Windows is free, because it works even without a license code.

  • Lovely conversion rate. Not
Correction. Just looked at my game purchase. My bad

if people are using kodi as a front end theres always the addon that was just dumped before they attempted to sue the guy recently that allows most* plex premium features to work on the pirated copy

google the torrentfreak article for a source

its what pushed them to release a "free" app for kodi shortly after

    • Plex has always been free. You just get first access to new features with Plex Pass.

      • +1

True. I used it free for several years before I decided they had earnt being paid, and took up a Plex Pass offer.

    • Hasn't there always been a plex for kodi addon that wasn't 100% legit?

I used to used it a long time ago.

    • Hmm:
" Best of all, your recordings will be integrated seamlessly" :

A bit like Long John Silver protesting council parking charges then?

      • What does a man who steals stuff from boats have to do with this?

        • The main advantage of the paid version is that you can then access recordings you obtained from your own tuner - with little input from or consideration given to the copyright holders or the broadcasting TV station.
Recording TV is something I can do with my tuner. This company is offering a menu system and library for works it didn't create obtained uasing equipment it didn't buy.
A bit if a grey area to me - their suing the guy who coded add-ons strikes me as about as valid and ethical as Microsoft's constant howling regarding "piracy" in the 1990s, when the only pirated program I used daily was built into MS-DOS 6.0 - the disk compression code they told the author they no longer wanted to licence, - but didn't tell him they were using his code for the "replacement…

I'll buy Plex pass when they give me the option to add custom links to the side bar. Until then, free it is.

  • Please PM me the code if anyone who's got it doesn't need it.Cheers

  • It's linked to the user's email address. Can't be transferred

    • +3

Just fyi, I've used a code from ynwa and it works, not linked to email.

      • My bad. Previous codes had been tied to the email address.

      • Would also love to get the code too if anyone not planning on using their one.

Please PM with the code :)

        • +vote first

        • @YogaPants: vote what, sorry?

        • @yolow: The deal. You're after the great deal, but not interested in supporting it with a vote?

What is the use of the lifetime pass? I think I paid for the app…I am not entirely sure…

    • +1

It gets you access to the 'premium' features listed here https://www.plex.tv/features/plex-pass/.

The free app is too good. None of those extra features are enough to entice me!

      • +1

I've purchased the Lifetime pass because I've started to use Plex to share my obviously legally downloaded movies/tv shows with family and friends, and the pass pretty much lets all of them watch from their devices forever (compared to I believe 30 seconds trial on iOs and Android devices before), and also allows for offline download (so whoever has access to your Plex server can even download that content to their device)
Pretty nifty, but I believe the main purpose is to support the creators for such a great service/app

      • +4

I eventually bought the Pass, figuring they earnt being paid.

  • Would love a code for lifetime deal. If anyone has a code but already got lifetime please PM me if you're not planning to use it.
Had the offer once but by then time I checked my junk mail it had expired.

    • The email subject is usually "From us to you: A limited-time offer for long-time customers"

In case anyone goes searching in their junk mail.

  • I have no idea what this is about

    • +3

Plex is the very best movie/television server. Makes your media library available on any device - tablet, phone, laptop, desktop, smarttv, even the Cloud. Works for the whole family, offline, away from home, it just works.

You can start with the free version - install Plex Server on your PC or Mac and watch with the free Plex Player on your iPad or Android. If you like it, buy the Plex Pass and get all the features unlocked.

Very happy customer going on 5 years now. Bought the lifetime Plex Pass and glad that I did.

  • If anyone has a spare code that they do not want, would they kindly please pm me :)

  • If anyone else got a code they do not want can you please pm it to me :) <3

  • If someone has a code and won't use it could you please PM it to me. Thanks

  • If anyone has a spare code, could you PM me? I'll be forever greatful ;)

  • If anyone has a code they don't need please can I have it via PM ? :)

  • +7

ffs. why not just reduce lifetime subscription to 99AUD for xmas and be done with it. Surely that would net more sales then a targeted email.

  • Please PM me a code if not using it thanks!

  • I just tried using OP's code and it gave me this error message

This promotional code is valid only for new, monthly Plex Pass subscriptions and cannot be applied to existing subscriptions or as credit for yearly or lifetime plans.

I wonder if I change to Monthly (from Yearly) I could use the same coupon code? Anyone tried?

    • OP didn't give you a gift code, so thats the wrong box.

The code is unique so its of no use to anyone but OP.

  • If anyone has a code they're not going to use, PM it to me pleeease ^_^

  • I'd also love a code if someone has yet another one they don't need, thanks.

  • I'd love to join the queue of people who would like a discount code if somebody has it :)

    Thanks!

  • Infuse is so much better, streams 4k like nobody’s business

    • 4k has nothing to do with plex, its the player that decides if you can play it or not.

      • It does, Plex transcodes where infuse and vlc direct play

        • Plex also direct plays if your device is compatible (i.e. has 4K decoding hardware or sufficiently powerful CPU).

Plex can also create an Optimized Version for a specific device. Just tell it what you want and it makes it all happen. That way you get direct play on any device.

        • As mentioned, Plex only transcodes if you or your clients are doing something wrong.

        • @nhand42: yea, no. I’ve tried everything and it will not play my 4k 150gb files that I throw at it, whereas infuse does it without a sweat with DTS passthrough on Apple TV

        • @loveitorleaveitmofo:

Thats an issue with your setup/client, not Plex.

And you are using an Apple TV… doesn't surprise me.

        • @samfisher5986: infuse bro

  • I also would like to get the code if anyone who received don’t need one. Thanks

    • Next to nobody received one and those that did, probably want to use it themselves.

  • I use Kodi, how is Plex better?

    • It's more a case of what are you trying to achieve rather than what's better. for starters Plex is a server and Kodi isn't out of the box.

    • The main difference is with Kodi, the end user device needs to do all the transcoding work ; where as with Plex, the server does all the hardwork transcoding and puts less load on end devices

  • If anyone has a code, I'm after one! :D

  • I would love a code too

  • We have a Fetch Might and TiVo HD (soon to be revived). Neither of these seems to allow us to watch recorded TV or movies on iOS, Android, PC, Mac etc in our house, let alone off-line.

Although, I think TiVo HD had the ability to export programs it wasn't easy to use etc.

From what I have read above, Plex does this well. However, what about streaming Live-TV to devices? I guess it would rely on the Plex box having enough tuners etc. I'm unsure.

Is it possible to watch live TV on a device in our house, outside on the net?

    • My Fetch Mighty has been setup to stream media (operates as DLNA server). Though it only seems to work for some shows (on android that is). Likewise some programs I have been able to copy off the device via windows (copy paste from that DLNA server). Though it fails most of the time.

I used to copy media from the Tivo for viewing on the go, but it was always too much of a hassle (download, extract the transport stream from the .tivo file, re-encode to mp4 or similar). Not really worth it imo.

  • Good sources to find videos people are hosting on plex?

    • +1

You mean, good sources for pirated videos?

      Not the place to ask.

  • Bugger. I've used fetch for over a year without the pass and never received the code. Oh well.

  • Would love a code also if possible, thanks in advance!

  • +1

So this post is just a reminder for people to check their email account for an email from Plex?

    • Yes, I can't believe this is still here.

Next to nobody would have received it, its very rare.

  • If anyone is sitting on a code they don't need i'd be interested in it. Thank you.

  • If anyone has a spare code I’d be happy to make use of it. Been waiting for a lifetime deal for a while. Thanks

  • +1

anyone able to pm me the code pls

    • ^ out of all the spam here, this guy had the courtesy to upvote, so they're likely 4th in line.

      • -2

Why would you upvote a deal with a code that doesn't work and that barely anyone received?

The person first in line would have received no code… so why bother.

  • If anyone has a lifetime code they don't want it would be much appreciated

  • anyone can give me a code please?

  • Anyone who does not need there code i would love it Thanks!

  • got a code a couple of weeks ago. Was very pissed off to receive one as a 'founding member' a year or so ago but the time limit was so short I couldn't get on it. Done now and very happy. However I sent my code to a mate who wanted a lifetime pass as well and the system said it had been used- so don't get your hopes up people……

  • If anyone doesn't need a code, i would love it!

    Much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • Fair warning to everyone, Plex relies on internet, even if you're using your local network.

Also, occasionally their servers go down, so you can't log in. This happened as recently as 6 hours ago.
