I got an email from Plex offering the Lifetime Plex Pass for USD $74.99 with a unique coupon code linked to my email. When you click the link to "Redeem Code", it automatically converts the currency to AUD at a value of AUD $99.99. Not the best currency conversion rate but Im not complaining as the usual price is AUD $159.99.
If you are a long time user of Plex, but do not have a paid subscription, you may be sent the unique code. Check your email's junk folder. I was offered this twice in the last 6 months, but missed the dateline as the email was in my junk folder and the coupon had expired before I could use it.
Hope this is useful for those considering a Plex Pass subscription
Interesting .. I've used Plex without any internet connection for about 2 months (continuously) .. but this was in the v0.9.x days and after I've already used their scanner on my collection of videos.
Recent-wise .. I am able to use Plex without internet service whenever NBN goes out for 6-12 hours at a time once a week since I've been in Australia. (Not the channels that stream of course.)
I scraped all my nfo's, posters and fanart independently and store it locally in each folder for the Plex scanner to read. Maybe that makes a difference? This is from my NAS to an Apple TV, iPad, iPhones, Win7, Win10, Roku Stick, Chrome Stick (I'd stay away from the Chrome stick as it chokes constantly even with 720p).
When I am away on trips, I can create a local LAN (with with no internet access) and stream "synced" files from my phone, iPad or Windows device to the stick devices using a mifi that allows device interconnect-ability. (All devices have been setup and signed in using internet service prior but during my vacation are not using data services.)
