New Phone Time: $59/month plan

Hi peeps, my contract with Virgin Mobile ends this month, and I feel like with all these competitive deals I'd like to upgrade to potentially one of the $59/month deals around.

My main two contenders that caught my eye at the moment are the Huawei Mate Pro 10 from Optus (VR camera, EPL and World Cup streaming) and the Google Pixel 2 from Telstra/JB ($100 gift card, google home mini)

My main focus in terms of features:
1. Camera
2. Speed
3. Durability/design

Not fussed about micro SD or headphone jack.

Looking forward to a civil and constructive discussion :p

    I just pulled the trigger on the iPhone 8 from Optus online - $59 + 20GB data + Optus Sport.

    Goodbye my dear Lumia 950 XL - you will be missed…

      Did the same for my wife. I'm tempted by the Pixel 2, Apple doesn't do it for me.

    Dont think Huawei mate 10 pro is best for camera. Galaxy S8 or iphone 8 will be much better.

      That's the main reason it's a contender, I havent seen the iPhone 8 camera but I feel like it's better than the S8 camera; what has your experience been like?

        The cameras are pretty similar comes down to what you like in your pictures. The iPhone has a more natural looking colour whereas the S8 has a more vibrant colour.

    I am looking at getting the pixel 2 from JB HI tomorrow, I think for the money and specs for the phone, it will do me. Pure Google and kept up to date for 3 years, one of the best camera's if not the best camera.

      But you would also need to spend another $200 for wireless earphones.

    Got the iPhone 8 from moto g4, for $60 a month not willing to risk it on brands which are unproven in the premium market. Samsung is a good offer too. Iffy on the pixel, despite the camera, still too early in the game imo.

    Doesn't seem like there's much support for the Huawei which although specs are most impressive, they're still lacking in their OS and customer support… Will look at the pixel 2 in store and compare it side by side!

    Hey team; so I've had a play around with the phones in person…. nothing amazing from the huawei, and the pixel 2 is too much bezel, and I've heard the iphone 8 plus goes on special tomorrow! Will hold tight for now. Thanks for all input.
