  • Lowest price ever on the 256GB?

  • +1 from me for the MicroSD.

I'm sure that I paid more than that for my first 128GB MicroSD. Then again, I paid double that for my first 256MB(!) compact flash card.

  • I'm planning to get a used car next week or so. Will the OBD2 arrive in time? I'm seeing expedited shipping 4-5 business days as default, but will that automatically downgrade to ~1 month shipping when you apply the code?

    • +5

i sugget you by from local if you need this next week. most chance the package will delayed due to recnetly warehouse and shipping company get too many package.

      • And delivery times will be slow once it hits Australia as it is Christmas.

    • +1

Expedited shipping is also about AU$65 so would prob be cheaper to source one in Aus

    • I got one of these for a few bucks a few years ago. Dont expect too much out of them other then the basics. If you want to do anything meaningful with the car (service, tune or clear codes) via OBD2 you need a vendor specific adapter. For 90cents it wont break the bank.

    • Hopefully you're going to spend a bit more on servicing the car than relying on a sub $1 Bluetooth dongle that may not even be able to read your future car's chips. Good luck to us all…

  • I must be going nuts. Where do I enter the codes?

Got OBD2, was reading comments on last deal, missed that out and was on lookout for this

  • with the obd2 tool, i've read the wifi version is more stable.. any chance on a deal for the wifi version?

    • :) do you mind give me a link? so i can better check this on clearance list

    • I don't think the Bluetooth ones work with iPhones (well they didn't use to… hopefully they work now)

      • for the cheap listed in the post you will need the right software to go with the odb and bluetooth unit …. picture shows it comes with a disc so i’d assume windows ……. so it might need a lap top …….

        • You do t sound like you have used one of these before, as an Android user you just download load most any app and connect, don't wee why it would be different for iPhone apart from random incompatibility

      • Apple won't allow the Bluetooth serial port emulation protocol which they use, because Apple.

So Apple need the wifi versions.

Bluetooth type struggles with the datarate in some cars (euro are partially problematic)
        Wifi better.
Ultimately only hardwired PC (though perhaps some support USB OTG) are best.

Their support for a cars codes depends on the app used, the dongle is just the hardware interface.

Never change a setting via these, they are suitable for read only.

  • Where do we input the discount code?

A bit off topic but I need a LEXIA 3 PP2000 for my Peugeot 407 to reset some parameters, any deals on that?

    • These ones will read some info from a Pug, but not reset codes. Up to you to lookup what those codes mean, like to !!!glow plug.
Probably selling mine, fuel pump issues and someone 'adjusted the front panels while I was parked. With a rock.

      • I have one of these cheap ones, but the actual car has an on-board diagnostic system. 2 day ago I get this message: "Particulate filter additive level too low. Repair needed." To my fortune, that my Pug is very fuel efficient diesel 5l/100, there is a misfortune that this DPF filter additive which I didn't even know existed is $650 to top up a a reputable service and $360 at the cheapest. So there goes my fuel savings, on an additive i didn't even know it existed. However I will try to order it from the UK as it is not sold in Oz and refill myself, then I need a good OBD reader/writer to reset the ECU.

        • let me know how you go . same error now on mine. can OM me on whirlpool, same nick

        • @Magus: sent you a message on whirlpool

  • How does the Samsung EVO+ and SanDisk compare with each other? (read/write) speed?

  • -5

i used the obd2 to clear all my error codes and then sold my car for a decent price :)

    • It's common to clear codes when diagnosing faults via OBD. If they return, then you investigate it. If your car had any real faults, the code would have returned right away.

  • Thanks Rep ordered.

any chance on a code for Xiami ZigBee Sockets :)

    • :) don't have enough stock for now, so don't have any plan recently

  • No SD adaptor….how do we get one?
The USB 2.0 freebie says max 128GB it can take?

The V1.5 mentioned in the title of this OBD2 reader is essentially meaningless as the only ELM327 chip versions that have been produced are 1.0, 1.3a, 1.4b, 2.1 and 2.2. Most of these Chinese cheapies are 1.0 clones as that version did not use the copy protection functionality of the PIC microcontroller so they were easily cloned.

The best revisions are 1.4b and above as they all have a low power (sleep) mode. This is probably the most important practical difference as if you leave the controller connected when you turn the ignition off it won't continue to drain your battery to the same extent as the 1.0 and 1.3a versions. More info here if you're interested.

From memory the Jaycar OBD2 scanners that they have for about $70 are version 1.4b. That's the price difference between counterfeit and real in this instance. It's basically impossible to know what versions any of the ones you get off eBay are but it's fair to assume that most will be 1.0 clones unless they're a reputable brand and/or they specifically mention the version in the description (remembering V1.5 means nothing).

      • Because I own one and checked it with the ELM327 Identifier app. The app doesn't just read what the chip reports the version to be; it actually sends commands specific to each version of the chip to determine what the actual version is. All Chinese clones are based on 1.0 irrespective of whether the chip reports itself as being 1.5 (which doesn't exist).

        • @bargin424: No idea, I have the Bluetooth one. I would assume that the WiFi one has the same EML327 version, but don't hold me to that. WiFi one is good if you want to pair with an iPhone or anything else that won't accept a Bluetooth connection with an uncertified device.

        • @Nomadesque:

Yeah I was thinking the same. A few drawbacks that you may face with Wi-Fi
          - May connect up to McDonalds or other public WiFi as you drive
          - Unable to connect to two WiFi devices (if you are using a hot spot)
          - Have to disconnect/reconnect if you want to connect to your home WiFi

        • @bargin424: It acts as a wireless access point (the same as any router, WiFi modem or public access point) so it's not going to be randomly connecting to other public networks.

The only risk might be that someone else could connect to your car and read your OBD2 data, although I'd say that's highly unlikely to happen unless someone's specifically looking for open networks, sees yours, knows that it's a connection for an OBD2 reader and what to do with it. Even if that were to happen, at worst they'd only be able to clear any pending or fault codes.

The other two issues are fairly minor.

        • @Nomadesque:

I've just purchased the bluetooth ODB reader, and it is detected as 1.4 not 1.4b :(

Out of curiosity, which sort of toggles do you put on and what do you look out for?

  • Seems to be a cheaper deal. Perhaps the 5% off code P5OZZIE is still available?
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SAMSUNG-EVO-PLUS-256GB-Class-10-…

    • This is all fake, I used to buy one, it is only 32gb actually.

      • Thanks for the information. It's a shame that we do not have a reliable approach to catch those immoral sellers!

  • yay. $1.26 ODB tool. If it works, yay. If it doesn't work. Meh.
I wasn't going to pay 41c for shipping insurance.

CLEARANCE3 code has been used too many times.

    • ya..Sorry,your coupon has exceeded the maximum limit for usage.

  • Is it just me or is plugging a 90cent device into a multi thousand dollar cars diagnostic port seem like a silly risk.

    • This should only be used as a "read only".

If you don't make any changes (which isn't easy anyway) to any of the coding, you should not see any difference in the car.

It isn't a risk unless you overstep your ability.

      • I mean more from a electrical POV, how likely is it an extremely cheaply made device plugging into the OBD port going to electrically damage the system.

        • About as likely as a USB fan frying a laptop. Nearly impossible as it draws power from the port. Unless it has drawn significant amounts of power and fed it back into the system (which you'd really have to try and makes something like that), you'd be okay.

        • @tshow: 12V 5amps power supplied via OBD unless all the data pins can take that, i'd be worried that some dodgy build could short out to a data pin and fry a chip.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered 32gb Sd card.
