150
TV20

Limited Edition Tv & at this price I believe it's a steal. Don't know much about it & how it compares to the KU range but definitely a bargain at this price.

EDIT*** DID SOME RESEARCH VIRTUALLY A KU6000. If anyone can find any differences please let everyone know. This is the cheapest price see link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/275704

Wow… 60 months interest free too if you add something to make it over $1000. Incredible offer… trying to find out more.

    • It’s only 8 Bit. They removed any reference to HDR Premium in this new model. It’s also a bit heavier?

      • that sucks

is that why it is limited edition?

        • ku6000 is 8 bit hdr

      • +1

where did you get the info that is is 8bit and no hdr premium?

        what is hdr premium?

        • it's a 6 series, they are all 8 bit. If you want 10 bit hdr you will need 7 series

      • What are TV's usually? I don't plan on using HDR since my PC drives my TV and doesn't support it.

        • You can play HDR on PC's now. By using mad vr and lav filters on media player classic. By using the custom settings you can actually get a more precise picture than a 4K Blu-Ray player. (There are now hundreds of download torrents out for movies and tv shows with HDR)
Most 4K TVs for each brand have their premium models and series. It's usually the top two or three series in the range which are 10 bit colour (this year's models, last year and below would only be limited to highest series) if it has 8bit with dithering to make it replicate 10bit colour, means HDR is almost pointless and will not see a difference in picture.

        • @Monstalova: I've looked into using mad and media player classic before, but in the end it just looked like too much effort for something not that important to me all the while it putting extra load on my GPU.

It was also my understand HDR on PC's meant having a specific HDMI version (2.1?) output which I don't have.

If 8bit is standard and 10bit is high end then that's good enough for me.

        • @enceladus94:
You only need hdmi 2.0 which many m/boards have or is firmware updateable plus almost every gpu has. I use the Sony X9000e 49inch as my monitor to watch movies, tv etc. It's the greatest investment I've ever made for anything to do with computers or gaming. Hdmi 2.1 isn't officially released yet and won't be on commercial TV's for probably around 2 years

        • @Monstalova: Ah guess I'm misinformed. Still not that fussed, I just went a better TV than my cheap chinese 1080p one.

  • Sometimes manufacturers will make a crappier version of a TV to move during big sales.

There was something about this I was reading (sorry I can’t remember source; I know that sounds very unconvincing) that was referring to the Black Friday (was referring to the US in the article IIRC) sales where people will go in and find TV’s without doing their due research and end up with a tellie that doesn’t necessarily have the features that they were expecting. Not saying that’s the case here, but just be aware it does happen.

This is somewhat relevant here. This is a re-branded/modelled version of the KU6000. If your not so budget conscious you should possibly be looking at actual Full Premium 10 bit HDR https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sony-55-inches139cm-uhd-led-l…

      • any idea why this is a limited edition?

        • probably because technically it is Limited Edition & they only probably put out a certain amount. I can only speculate

        • @PAOK11:

but if it is exactly the same as the KU6000, then what is so special about it that makes it limited edition?

other than just changing the model number…

        • @pinkybrain: Marketing Ploy I guess ?

      • Yep Sony has the best LEDs on the market right now in the X9 series. Brightness, contrast, upscaling, wide colour gamut, premium features that are killing the other brands…without a doubt the best picture quality. Then there's the Z9D which would probably be the best TV available

  • I tried posting this deal about 3 hours ago but wouldnt let me as it said TV20 code already in use? Shrugs.

I suspect it might not be the best TV out. I rang JB Hifi and they said they were aware of TGG price on this TV and said if I went down tonight they'd beat TGG by a further 10%. Its not normal for JB to price beat so Im wondering if they need to flog these off cheaply for some reason?

  • As far as I know this model is essentially the same as the MU6100, except that it doesn't have Bluetooth and only come with a standard Samsung remote, not the one remote. It's a good price for a brand-name TV, but keep in mind the audio out options are very limited if you're planning on using headphones with it.

And yes it's "Limited Edition" purely because it's a stripped down model released to be cheap over the Christmas/Boxing Day sales period. (As evidenced by this deal).

  • I guess they don't change the budget model very much every year. Only very subtle differences https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/baaf1cfa…
