A special sale from Lenovo for their think/light ThinkPad — Lenovo Edge 13". I don't think it is in the league as X200 series. Probably more comparable to the older Dell Inspiron 13z. $649 (from AU$1,607.15 if you believe in that).

  • Intel Core2 SU7300
  • 2GB DDR3 memory
  • 320GB 5400RPM HDD
  • 13.3" LED backlit display
  • 4 cell battery up to 5 hours usage
  • 1.64kg

Still a good price for a light portable notebook that is one grade above netbooks, despite last generation Core2 processor.

  • None of them offers a good graphics card !!!!

  • To the above posts:

The point of this is a non-gimped portable pc. Of course the graphics card is crap. And it is NOT INTENDED to compete with the mln g560 (however, if you want a bigger unit, the g560 is a great deal (faster/bigger)).

You really need to compare this to other 13.3" netbooks with CULV processors.

Best comparison I can find is my own Viewsonic VNB131 ($650-$700 including post at Online Computer).

Note the $650 VNB131 BLACK is close to this unit (no optical drive)
Whilst the $700 VNB131 HAS AN OPTICAL DRIVE.
The upside of the VNB is it has an expresscard slot (handy for adding a port multiplied e-sata expresscard) and for $50 you get the optical drive. And having the optical drive means you can run a second battery to get 50% more battery life (it's a 3 cell, part number VNB-Batt-007, but it's a hassle to get you will need to talk to viewsonic to order it into the country) or a second hard drive (browse to Newmodeus and see what I mean).
    VNB is not led backlit.

As it's the same specs otherwise, what you can expect from this is a non laggy (unlike atom) machine that handles all web browsing, document writing (not for long hours - too small) and 2d/basic games.

    Some things to think about:
If youre buying this, click the 'internal bluetooth' option. $15
Battery life is going to be crap. 4 cell. Buying a 6 gives you about 3.5 hours non-stop browsing, 5.5 hours sitting there with the screen permanently on but not doing anything. This costs $169.
An SSD wont speed this up much, it is cpu limited (I put one in mine and its made little effect compared to my desktop which had a tremendous speed boost). You may not even be able to access the inside without voiding warranty, I don't know.
I'd suggest calling lenovo to see about dead pixel warranty, if its 0 dead pixels this is a fantastic deal.
You kinda have to like lenovos. They are ugly-as-fark imho.

There's nothing really wrong with this laptop. It's a good deal, but a bit of taste/personal requirements involved.
