Remember to tip the staff, they probably aren't getting paid….

  • Jimmy Grant's is so much better Zues the Greek. Good to finally get some of Melbourne's decent cheap eats.

I'd have to disagree. The ones I've tried are too sweet with the mustard and onions. I had these in Melbourne years ago and waited ages for them to come here but now I'm disappointed having had Zeus in between.

Yeah agreed, Jimmy Grant's is overpriced and very average.

    • Seriously, I can walk to the Fitzroy Jimmy Grants in a few minutes, but I'd pass several better kebab/souva shops on the way.

Just avoid the underpaying grub is the best bet.

Tried these in the Pitt St mall food court. Really not that good, not worth $5 let alone the normal price.

    • It's good for the price but they ran out of chicken and prawns one of the first few days. A quick look over the collection counter also showed the dirtiest kitchen floor I've seen in a while.

Overpriced RRP, but for $5 its not a bad deal

Has George Calombaris paid his staff yet? NO (Source: http://www.smh.com.au/business/workplace-relations/underpaid… )? Then why would you support his business.

    • -3

This is to support your appetite, not his business.

Someone tell Savas that Souvas is $5

      omg!!

    Andre Agassi is Greek?

    • They look like twins, but no, that is the face of George Calombaris

    • His parents are Armenian from iran

      • Nah they're Spanish from France.

    • +1

      George Calombaris isn’t Greek.

      • seems everybody is a dual citizen now, even indigenous parliamentarians. so i’m sure he is entitled to greek citizenship.

        • so i’m sure he is entitled to greek citizenship.

How is he entitled to Greek citizenship?

He wasn't born there and neither of his parents are Greek ???

Had one of these as my mealpal selection the other day. Honestly it was the worst meal choice all year. Small, cold and not worth the money. Exactly like George Calombaris the little rip off merchant.

    Tried,

even skinny people will need two of them. Very tiny sub.

  • +1

Very overpriced at normal price. Need two to fill you up. For $5 it's pretty good though.

Will we get assaulted if we do not like the food :P ?

  • the onions are way too sweet for some reason

There's one of these opening up in Eastland near me, so long as they don't shove a picture of that ugly bald mug anywhere near me while eating, I might try it some time.

  • i’m i’m melbourne and recall i liked the taste but not the price when they were selling them from a food truck, before they had stores. it was shoulder lamb, slow cooked and they removed the fat, bread was also, proper souva bread not pita like many places use …. for $5 if it was melbourne and i didn’t have to stand in a long line, it would be my go to.

at lunch times it’s quite a wait in the line at melbourne central …. and that is at full price.

Good deal at $5 but not worth the RRP at all. Small and stingy on the fillings, the two things a typical souva isn't.

  • Isn't "Jimmy Grant" a racial slur?

    • Yes, that's the ENTIRE point of the name, well spotted.
