Thanks. Long time user and member, first-time deal poster :)

      • No worries, I should also just mention that 28 days is only 4 weeks :)

Tip to those buying: make sure it can be easily unlocked before buying, I got a $19 Telstra one that wants $80 unlocking. I can do it by jumping through hoops a bit but couldn't be bothered..

Back in the day, I had software to unlock devices such as this. Do a bit of search. I think some are profiteering, selling unlock codes for a few $$

        • @wooldogs: I believe they are selling codes for some but not others. Plus some bodgy people are just selling fake codes.

        • I bought this exact modem a year ago, it was unlocked out of the box as was reported by many others however I can't guarantee the same with the newer stock

        • @bonz: same, mine was unlocked as well.

        • @buneyha: In that case, I'll grab one. That's awesome to hear!

oh ffs, i just bought the vodafone one from Coles. Should I Get this one aswell??

    • sell it on eBay, make a profit :) minimise the damage.

  • Does anyone know the cheapest way to get a 'data-share sim' for this device now that Optus have dumped the $5 sims from back in the day?

    • +1

It's now minimum $15 dollars per month I believe. You're right, they did discontinue the data share sims for $5. The only way to get one, if you find someone that's not using it and you do a 'change of ownership' to your account.

From the grapevine, I heard other customers, reps can still put you on a $10 per month data share sim not $15

  • Was looking out for an Optus pre-paid broadband deal. Would have grabbed this but pulled the trigger at K-Mart on this at $35 last week :-(.
