What advantages does this $30 adapter have over this $1 adapter?

    • The cheap ones don't work very well. I would be keen to hear if this one is any better.

Seems like plenty of satisfied customers on that deal page.

        • I haven't got the model you linked, but see it has some mixed comments. I do have 2 different <$5 bluetooth receivers, and they forget what they have been paired with and have inconsistent range, and one does both, so it forgets it was paired if the signal goes out of range.

I tried mine for the first time yesterday and it was great. Range and sound quality were much more than I expected for a dollar. The only downside was that while charging and not in Bluetooth mode it sent a hum down the signal line; turning Bluetooth on got rid of it immediately. As mskeggs says it won't re-pair automatically. But for a dollar - unbelievable.

      • Have one at home. Flawless sound quality and connection with 2 Android devices.

Purely speculating here, but if I had to guess:
      - range
      - support for higher quality audio transmission (aptx or bt4+)
      - build quality
      - better audio output

Could be wrong but I doubt you'd want to use the $1 one on a halfway decent setup.

      -Audio quality
      -Reception range
      -Connector quality
-Multipoint (two devices can be connected at once)
      -Less likelihood of a disconnect
      -Shielding from electrical interference
      -Build quality

Edit: looks like xdirex beat me to most of those :)

    • TBH IDK. But when I buy something, I go for decent quality. Not the throw away ones.

Current deal is 2 for us$0.39. (Same price for 1 or 2!) Ordered today & confirmed👍
Am using one of these cheapies - pretty good.
At that price you can try one or 2 for yourself😉

I bought the Logitech in a Computer Alliance sale for $19 a year back. Remembers 2 Bluetooth connections. Probably better & has RCA rather than 3.5mm audio output. After using both, considered the price difference hardly justified the purchase.

Chromecast should give better sound for a bit more expense than the old Logitech.

  • Where do you find the 5% off promo code?

Gets emailed to you if you have signed up for JB HI-FI's instant deals.

      • Oh I see, thanks

I have one of these, very reliable and good sound quality.

  • These are great except it's annoying that you have to go into your phone settings to disconnect it manually and re-pair it every time after use.
Why? Everything thereafter will connect to this device

Tried this for my car and it was a waste of money. If you put the volume up, you can hear an annoying static noise so you have no choice but to put it down.

    • +1

I also purchased this a couple of years ago to use in my car and don't get any static sound, you may have a grounding issue somewhere.

    • How did you power this in your car?

      • +1

It operates on 5V. So use car USB adapter with USB cable with correct barrel type plug (from eBay etc cheap). I had both of those on hand.
Guess if USB adapter is not operating correctly or unfiltered (or other electrical interference in car), can produce noise in audio output.

  • Any recommendations for a USB powered unit for the car?
