  • Dam, Thanks op! Got the bendy hdmi. Been looking for this hope it doesn't break on me 2 months in.

    • +22

      It shouldn't, they look Strong.

  • +30

Cool but…1080p only. No good for your 1440p monitor or 4k tv

      • +30

It's not that obvious if you don't go to the page. I'd say good call out.

      • But it's not?

        • +1

I thought all HDMI's were 4K? Is that a joke?

      • Hang on, i think we actually have a member called 'Captain Obvious'.

    • +1

Are you being serious? or trying to get a laugh?

    • +1

      Yeah doesnt mention version.

      • -1

Incorrect. Only versions 2.0 and 2.1 support 4k. Prior versions lack the necessary bandwidth.
Braiding and gold plating are gimmicks. All that matters is the version type. You either meet the minimum specs or you don't.

        • Ahh no.

Here's the official HDMI 1.4 specifications page.

          HDMI 2.0 adds 4k @ 60fps rather than @ 30fps.

        • +1

          @BTRaynes:

Why upgrade to 4k whilst simultaneously downgrading to 30FPS?
True 4k support starts at 2.0

Also you conveniently left out versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3…

"Wtf? There's no such thing as an HDMI cable that doesn't do 4K."
          Still wrong.

        • +1

          @Viper8:

You watch a lot of 4K content at higher than 30fps on your TV do you?

        • +3

          @BTRaynes:

          1. What about gaming?
          2. Who said anything about a TV?
        • +2

          LETS CLEAR SOMETHING UP

there's no such thing as a version 2.0 or 2.1 HDMI CABLE only standard or highspeed, it's just wording to sell at a higher price to the unaware consumer.
*****(yes i know there are different versions of hdmi protocols but that doesnt apply to cables. only to your TV, graphics card, android box etc)******.

          Standard HDMI Cable: ~1.7 GBit/s
          Highspeed HDMI Cable: ~8.2 GBit/s

a Highspeed HDMI cable is needed for 4k as it has the extra bandwith.

this Strong HDMI cable has 10.3 GBit/s of highspeed bandwith. so despite saying it can only do a max of 1080p, it will be able to do 4k 30hz with no problems.

TL;DR this cable can support 4k 30hz at the very least

        • +1

          @BoomTetrisForJeff:
          Nope.
Premium High Speed cables were introduced for the 2.0 protocol. Premium High Speed cables are the minimum required for 4k @ 60 fps and HDR.
There's also a forth type: 48G cables, introduced for the 2.1 protocol. These support up to 10k and fps of up to 120 Hz.

          For 4k at 60 fps you need 14.4Gbit/s. 14.4 > 10.3.

        • @Viper8: high speed cables were introduced with v1.4 for 4k 30hz which this cable should do, but yes you are correct may need a higher speed cable for 4k 60hz

        • +2

          @BoomTetrisForJeff:
Premium High Speed (2.0) is different to High Speed (1.4).

        • @Viper8:
High speed HDMI can do 4K if the cables are constructed and certified properly, high speed HDMI was introduced with HDMI 1.3

Their ability to do 4K comes down to how well they conduct. To be able to transmit the number of bits per second (bandwidth) to support 4K requires them to conduct better than an old HDMI cable that was designed for Full-HD. Their ability to conduct usually comes down to gauge (AWG / thickness of copper). Some old cables may be fine if they conduct well enough, but some skinny ones may not work.

        • That usually only applies when doing longer lengths (there is actually a solid use case for Monster cables over long distances).

        • @Diji1:
Is the Monster cable more Strong than the 1 in this deal ?

  • Thank you OP.

  • +1

Nice way for them to clear old stock. I switched all my cables over to braided 4k from MSY.

My 4k player occasionally drops out though, frustrating.

    • +2

I had the same thing with MSY cables. My Xbone S would occasionally drop out when running at 4k. Just a dud cable though as the other MSY cables worked fine.

      • May switch it with my Switch given its only running at 1080p, hopefully that'll fix the problem.

The cable from the amp to the TV must be ok if my other devices don't drop out.

        • Same thing I did. Switched the cable to my old PS4 as I don't have HDR and it only runs at 1080. Cable works perfectly fine at 1080.

      The partys over Gerry

Shhhh … Don't tell him that. He still thinks he knows what Aussies want (and willing to pay for).

      • +4

30 months interest free! Just pay double the normal price for the product (plus account establishment and administration fees, T&C's apply).

  • Slow shipping though

    • Shipping isn't really a strong point for Amazon AU right now.

    • -1

You're paying $2 for the item, do you really expect express shipping?

      • No. but 2 weeks when I'm 100kms away

        • -1

Took me 2 weeks to receive an item on eBay from 100km away.

  • +2

    Are they strong?

    • +3

They're strong, they're long, and they're down to get the picture on.

  • Grabbed one thanks OP.

  • Strong liked this.

  • Is this the same brand that used to make STB??

  • +1

Just in case no one read into it, these won't do 4K 60Hz.

10.3Gbps speed. Need 18Gbps for the big boy 4K 60Hz transmission.

At least they're semi-honest by giving out the rated speed. Good for anything 1080p, though.

  • +3

    Grabbed 2 x 3m … thanks op.

      • that cable looks thick, solid… tight

      • +5

Downvoted for being an a$$ but I admit I did laugh out loud.

  • -1

Considering the price discrepancy, it's almost definitely a pricing error. But good luck. Looking forward to the amazon bashing once orders starts getting cancelled :-P

  • So what HDMI version are these?

    • 1.4. Not for 4K

  • We're sorry. The item Strong 1.8M HDMI Cable is no longer available from the seller you selected.

  • the same message :( still showing as in stock on product page..

  • 1.8m — We're sorry. This item is no longer available from the seller you selected.
3m — There are currently no listings for this product.
3m bend — Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

    Party's over.

    • I managed to buy the 3m one just then, wasn't able to get the 1.8m one tho

  • +1

Turn on 1 click ordering and refresh the page, it will come back in stock and I managed to get the bendy one with 1 click ordering.

  • +3

Gerry will definitely be shitting himself after this deal

  • +1

Cheers OP, back in stock and nabbed a 3m bendy one :)

Inexpensive way to try Amazon in Australia lol

  • Got charged $31.98 for 2x 3m bendy HDMI cable, bit odd…

    • What did it say at checkout?

  • Careful, only HDMI 1.4 cables.

  • It all worked for me no problemo.
    Thanks OP.

  • The 1.8m one appears to be out of stock. I've updated the deal.
Check anyway, I think they add stock randomly

  • +1

    Best selling in computer:
    1. logi steering wheel
    2. logi speakers
    3-5 HDMI cables

    Haha

  • 3m with bendy ends is out of stock too

    • Thanks. Updated the deal.

  • Just got an email saying my order has been shipped.
Was half expecting a cancellation email tbh

  • +1

    Mine delivered ts morning.

    Great bargain!

    • They could have saved themselves some money and not used such ridiculously hard to open packaging for the cables.

      • +1

One moment you're concerned about being cancelled, and then when you do get it you're still not happy!
Pull your socks up, and be prepared for next time!

        Thank you.

EDIT: Hang on, you're the OP. I take everything back. Forgive me.

        • +1

Hey I paid $2 with free shipping. I expect demand quality!

  • I ordered the 1.8m ones and received the 3m bendy end ones.

    • +1

Mine arrived today - mix of 5x total, and it's what i ordered.
      You no happy me happy.

      • +1

I'm happy I paid $2 for the $3 cable but would've preferred the 1.8m due to not needing 3m.

  • Received my order today
Missing 1 x 1.8m HDMI cable! Damn.. contacted the seller. Ah well! Not fussed. Cables look sturdy!
Not sure what those were saying about tough packaging, mine was in a Aussie Post parcel and was easy to tear open lol.

    • +2

Mine were in those impossible to open clam shell plastic packaging.

  • My order of 3 cables arrived today in a big cardboard box. The cable packaging looks like it could be a challenge. I ordered 2 x 3m and 1 x 3m (bendy) and received 3 x 3m (nil bendy), so I've flicked a message off to the seller. I don't need the bendy, but it could be handy to have.

  • +1

If anyone says 'bendy' one more time, i'm going to completely lose my shit.

  • anyone else have their bendy cable not work?
