Hey all, love my beers and wines but have never had much luck with harder liquor like whiskeys. I've only ever had the crappy blended stuff designed for mixing so with that in mind, what's a good bottle for a newbie like me to drink neat without breaking the budget?

This is a good cheap example as a first try. The Monkey Shoulder listed in this deal is also a reasonable and cheap option to try.
If you want a smooth whisky then look for something from the Speyside region (most will say on the bottle where they're from).
Dimple is a good "drinking whiskey". Sure, once you've experienced a few different ones and found your taste you might go a little more upmarket, but you won't get a much better one at this price.

I put my order through at 1030 this morning but still have not recieved and email / text to say it's ready for collection. Anyone else not get the 60min turn around? Store is Brookvale NSW if that makes any difference.

Tell them you have the DTs, maybe they will try to get it out to you sooner.
I ordered mine around the same time 2x dimple and 2x gentleman jack and got the sms around 2pm. Picked it up in the evening after work.
