  • Dont forget that Jetstar price beats these by matching it and then beating it by 10%

      • no credit card fees when you do this
      • There is now. Last time I did a price beat a month or 2 ago.

        • +2

And you have to fly on Jetstar…

        • +1

@toristo: Well, we are talking about Jetstar price beating…

        • @toristo: Jetstar Australia, not to be confused with other Jetstar Asia, are fine as far as bargain flying is concerned. Flown out of Oz to Thailand, Hawaii, Japan no dramas.

        • @Xizor: You can also price beat with Jetstar Asia for those return journeys from Singapore for example.

        • @marquise:

So is there a credit card fee if we price beat, or not?

If so, how much per leg?

        • @Xizor: Jetstar is better than Scoot AFAIK. In addition, you can use Qantas lounge passes before the flight (from Australia, and from Singapore), which not only makes the trip more relaxing, but allows you to smuggle drinks and snacks aboard, saving you from buying onnoard.

          @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

Have a look on Seat Guru. Scoot's economy class has more legroom and larger seats compared to Jetstar.

        • @tranter: OK, thanks for clarifying.

        • @tranter:
But they are hard as rock. Jetstar has usb charge, allowed to take food on board and more comfortable seats.

        • @ndreamer:

Officially they say you can't 'consume' outside food onboard, but you can bring food onboard.

Anyway, heaps of people consume outside food onboard with no issues. There's even an OzBargain forum post on the issue:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/154321

In the unlikely event that a crew member says something to you, respond by saying you have special dietary requirements.

Jetstar does not, of course, price beat Sydney to Singapore.

      • Is this because Jetstar has a stopover?

Great work Scout! and Nice website too mate.

Wouldt definitely snapped em up but dating a teacher usually means no deals during her holidays xD

  • Return to Singapore from >insert city<…
So one way tickets or singapore is the origin?

  • Has anyone had any experience with Scoot?

    • +2

I've flown Scoot to Singapore twice now. Planes are new 787s, comfy seats. Service is good. I wouldn't bother with the food to be honest. Would happily travel with them again.

      • thanks for the answer. Might be worth considering then.

Scoot deals are always misleading. They look great but as you mention don't include luggage or a meal. I dare say 99% of people that fly on these airlines need to add luggage and are not going to fly that long without a meal.

Its like posting a deal for a cheap bike without pedals or wheels.

    • +1

Not really. As a person who travels international every year esp during x-xas, i can say u can save some money, if you like, when flying with these carriers. Even if you add 2 meals , luggage, etc… Heaps to save and can spend it at your destination.

Something missing is the entertainment - no video or audio. I usually don't the in flight entertainment even if it's there rather prefer to get my tab loaded with shows and music…. Far far better than those crap old movies and low resolution screens.

      • Not denying you cant save money but putting a price up that 99% wont get due to adding luggage and meals is only bait. so your $240 turns to $340 or whatever it is.

I'd happily try Scoot to Singapore for a short stay without extra luggage. Surprising how little you need to take when you're off to somewhere that is warm (OK - hot!) all year round.

      • Sounds like a fun trip packing everything you need for the trip into carry on. socks, undies, clothes, toiletries, electronics, travel documents. That will be one busting at the seams bag :)

        • +1

I'd be reconsidering my 'needs' for a short stay. You'd be surprised how little you can get away with. On our last trip to Europe, we had about 15Kg each (including suitcases) and we were going to late autumn conditions. You don't need any heavy clothes for Singapore (and environs).

Travel light, ditch the electronics (well, most of them) and enjoy the scenery!

        • +1

As greenpossum said, Scoot has 10kg carry-on allowance.

That's plenty for short trip or holiday.

    • +1

So are local budget airlines if you want to look at it that way. In fact you get 10kg carry-on, more than Jetstar's 7kg. I have managed with 7kg for a local trip of a few days.

    • Guess we're in the 1% that don't feel the need to lug 20kg suitcases around with us. We just got back from s'pore flying scoot and stayed for a week. 10kg cabin baggage each was plenty. Brought a couple of snacks and was fine.

      • -1

Well hats off to you 1%ers. We all love the people that cram as much as they can in their carry on that have bags bigger than should be allowed that fill the overheads so others have to put their normal sized bags 10 rows down.

Personally if I go on a holiday I don't want to manage and get away with. I want to pack more than enough and I want room to I don't know, maybe buy some things while I'm away. To most a holiday is a holiday, not an attempt to travel like a 18yo backpacker :)

        • +1

You just have different expectations that's all. If I were going for a week or more, I'd also take checked luggage and compare with full service airlines. Except for jackets and jeans, my clothes don't weigh much or take up much room. It's the laptop, camera, and books, that will bump up your weight. So I make do with my phone, and Kindle. I do allow myself a prosumer camera though, comes in at about 700g.

For my next Scoot trip I have bought checked in allowance for the return for shopping. So you can evaluate and adapt plans.

  • Question for those who have flown Scoot:
If you don't select your seats during the booking process, will they still try to seat travelling companions together at check-in?

    • Yea they did for us even though we checked in less than 2 hours before the flight.

      • Cool, thanks.

      • Unless the flight is jammed packed, you'll be separated to front and back.

  • This has expired?

    • It looks like those prices are no longer available but when they drop again that page will show the best prices. Scoots take off Tuesday is tomorrow so we could see some good prices.
