5x 25 LED Solar Powered Motion Sensor Outdoor Security Light US $30 (~AU $39.36) Shipped @ Tmart

741
TMARTBFLED

These are back on sale and cheaper than before. They can operate at night as a path light and when the motion sensor is triggered it'll operate at full brightness. I picked up several of these (with less LEDs) in previous deals and they work really well.

You must log in to apply coupon.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2017

  • Thanks, I've been wanting to buy these for a while now.

These things are really bright for what they are! Worth the money

  • A$40.90 showing up

    • Same for me.

A little trick every OzBargainer should know. Don't set your currency to AUD on these sites as they're usually inflated. Same goes to PayPal's US to AU rate. Best to have a card without currency conversion fees linked to PayPal set to use its own exchange rate.

Then you can get closer to the AU price I listed.

  • +2

as a new customer, they offer tiered discounts.

lowest spend is AU $68 so these lights on their own won't be enough.

(Neg just to alert to cheaper price.)

    • +1

The 30 led set still comes out cheaper 2

      5 × 6.99= 34.95

      Extra 5% off

      34.95 × 0.95 = 33.20

    • -3

With 5 available so it wouldn't be allowed here.

      • But there would be similar items at other eBay sellers.

It also wouldn't be worth posting on OzBargain as it's an everyday price.

        • -4

My point is there is a minimum requirement of 10 for them to be a deal. You should know this.

        • Thanks, bought the ebay one

    • So far that link is an unobtainable deal.

  • +5

IF you don't need 5 just get it from eBay not much more expensive.

    • +1

      Actually its cheaper

      • +1

I just wanted 1 to give it a try and yeah like brodey says it actually works out cheaper and no sign up process.

do they work outdoor under the "Australian sun"?

    • +3

how many sun we got? 198 different sun?

    • No, they're a solar light so they will only work in your basement.

      • +1

I mean under the harsh sunny condition ? Australia receives much more solar radiation (damaging) than many other parts of the world.
Bought a few solar lights but did not last long in the past.

  • +2

Got one of these didn't realise it stays illuminated the whole time and goes to extremely bright when triggered. Not sure if it lasts the whole night though…

    • Are you saying they don't turn off after a delay? Just to be sure… That would be a pain, IMHO.

      • yea at night it remains on all night, the brightness goes from like 10% dimly lit to 100% brightness.

      • About 3 LEDs stay on at night, it's quite dim ultimately

    • -1

yeah so they stay on at around 10 or 20% of the light output all night and auto turn off when the sun comes up

if you walk anywhere near them around 3m to 5m they instantly light up half the backyard
because they have 1 big Lithium-ion battery in it so they can go 2 days without sun
i taped the solar panel on one of them for giggles.. ion power baby!

the cheap round gutter lights $3 are powered by NiCad batteries and suck

  • is the battery included?

I can't find it explicitly stating as such

    • +2

      Yes

      • thankyou

  • +5

3 of mine from the last deal were faulty. Managed to solder and hot glue them back together except for one.

    • +5

Mine too, a pain to put it back together when you shouldn't have to

    • +4

Same here, got three…..none worked. Had to do soldering and hot gluing, not sure how long they would last

  • I'm probably dumb - but when I click apply on the coupon - nothing happens.
Could it be because I came in through the cashrewards site?

  • I ordered 5 during the last deal (20/9), and they have yet to arrive…

    • I ordered 5 from the last deal and definitely got them in october, you might want to follow that up

      • Logged a question this morning. I was being patent, as these direct ship from China deals often take 6-8 weeks to arrive…

        • I received them few weeks ago… definitely ask them

        • @usmanyousaf: They have told me they were sent. The tracking info was dud. They are out of stock because of this promotion. They will apparently send me a set when they are back in stock again.

  • Please tell me they won't be triggered and come on during the day and stay on all night :-)

    • Smash it with a hammer….

  • +1

I have bought them from previous deal.
In my opinion, they r bright but the build quality is worse..very low quality plastic has been used.

  • +1

All mine worked when installed, but already seeing some blue corrosion coming through plastic at base of solar cell. Definitely don't seem to to be IP6 water rated.

    • That is why I bought one from eBay to try first.

Installed a few weeks will see.

  • +1

I've bought one from Tmart. Worked perfectly to start with but has since started to flicker/flash.

Pro: useful if an epileptic burglar was to try to come up your front steps as it would almost certainly induce a seizure
Con: may induce seizures in other people due to the extremely bright flickering

I don't know (at this price) that I would buy another one. I think the $10 twin pack gutter lights from Aldi end up being better value, even if they only last for ~18 months.

    • LOL.

      Does it get enough sun?

Probably a dry joint, or water ingress- or low voltage. Check the panel and the LED array first, then the PCB. Most likely a Capacitor, Resistor or transistor. Easy to fix- just change the parts out- all r cheap.

      • Definitely isn't an issue with enough sun - it faces north and gets good exposure.

I figured it would be cheap to fix but.. just trying to give people a heads up - the build quality is a bit variable and these are not a long term proposition. I was hoping it would have worked for at least a year before starting to flake out..

        • @jason; Most garden lights fail fast due to dampness and heat.

When I got mine (bought elsewhere as I don't like these anonymous sites), I opened them up to see how bad they were.

The PCB is SMD (so nice and efficient) and looks fine, the battery a 18650 and the solar panel sealed. Batteries are soldered, which is much better for these lights. Sources of problems will come as usual, from water ingress/moisture/condensation, and the battery wearing out. I doubt they meet IP64 as water will ingress through the rear panel at least.

          To make them last:
Remove the PCB and seal the gap around the motion sensor cover and the casing with silicone. I found the PCB was mounted on an angle, so I cut down the far side mount to the same height as the other, which straightens it up.

Also, seal the back cover around the top, L & R sides. Leave the bottom so any condensation can drain.

Easy to do- question is, how long will they last? LiIon, NiMH chemistries are nowhere near as good as NiCad in these applications and the glue they seal the solar panel could dry out and crack open.
