Giselle Mattress (Latex + HD Foam + Cool Gel) Single $191, King Single $223, Double $263, Queen $311, King $351 @ Ozplaza.living

POOLSIDE

I have been looking for a budget mattress and I was deciding between Marce Blanc (pocket springs, great reviews) and this one (all foam, no springs).

I haven't been able to find any reviews (either good or bad) about this model, but for this discounted price I decided to give it a try.

    I prefer the Heidi Mattress.

What's wrong with the Upton Model?

Lets face it, I would probably settle for the Pauline Mattress these days.

But the orange clashes with my (imported) decor.

  • wow 83% off according to ebay advertise

And yet, the most expensive one sold was a king for $439

Id rather get an Ikea Hovag for only $88 more.

    • Thats just a regular mattress though.

  • I haven't tried this 'cool gel' one, but my Gisselle Pocket Spring from 2014 is still the best mattress I have ever had by a long shot

    HD foam

    Is it 4K?

  • Thanks. I didn't get the one you posted, but it got me looking and I ended up with this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Queen-Double-King-Single-Mattress…

$237.12 for a Queen, which is only slightly more than the $199 I had planned to spend at a Hafslo at Ikea for my spare bed. I think this will be a much better mattress. I can't find reviews other than from the eBay feedback, but they would be written before people had much use.

Considering a latex/foam pillow sells for about $100, I don't like your chances of getting a quality "latex" mattress for $200…

    • Latex + foam. Probably 90% (non latex) foam.

      • +1

according to the pictures its 3cm of memory foam on one side and 3cm of latex on the other you flip it depending on your preference i assume. imo memory foam is better to sleep on than latex so the latex side will only be good to keep slats from damaging the foam core.

3cm isnt much buffer for a humans body so it all really depends on the quality of the foam in the middle to see how comfortable it feels to sleep on.

About 12 months ago I bought the King sized one from zzz.atelier.outlet.store. Zzz Atelier Chiropedic BLACK LABEL, KING is currently ~$275 delivered using the POOLSIDE code.

I doubt the 10cm Euro top, and it is a little firmer that I was expecting, having come from a full latex mattress. I was thinking the 10cm top would make it like clouds. It is more like firm/supportive clouds, but not hard clouds if that makes sense. It is damn comfortable!

It is 5 zone spring, you can see the zones "inflate" at different rates when unboxing. Also, cannot feel the other person in the bed when they move.

DEFINITELY one of the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on, anywhere.

For under $300, my theory was it could become a spare bed if we didn't like it, or give it away, but we like it a lot, so guests are stuck with a crappy mattress :-) Will pick up another for the guests if someone is staying that we really like.

Can't agree with this comment more. Bought my Queen mattress from Zzz Atelier 2 years ago for $440.
Never been happier. It's the perfect mattress for anyone that values quality sleep, fantastic back
support, and unbelievable value for money. $300 for a queen delivered, absolute bargain!

    • Thanks for this, just ordered one. $239 delivered for a queen.

    • doesn't seem to say the firmness

      • +1

Phunky, it is listed as Firmness: "Medium firm design (firmer coils with softer upholstery)." I think firmness is a personal thing. This is not sink-into-soft. It's also not as hard as some beds I've slept on, it's probably closer to the firm rated ones at department stores than medium.

        • +1

contemplating between this and the assured firm

does the euro top gets hot on summer ?

        • +1

@phunkydude: Everything gets hot in summer :-)
We had a full latex mattress for a few years that was hotter, but I didn't think it was as hot as everyone says they are, though this one is cooler. I don't really know how else to describe it, so I will go with cooler than full latex. I don't think it's any hotter or colder than others.
The 10cm top feels more like 5cm to me, and not soft like a lying on top of a thick doona that squashes flat to hard boards, more like lying on half a dozen blankets with very supportive springs under them. When I first laid on it, I thought it would be too hard for me, after an awesome solid sleep on the first night, I did not think that anymore! Geez, it's getting late, time to go check that mattress!

    • yeh thanks from me too….all the reviews online seem positive, so i took the punt on one for $207 vs $729 on their online store….bit of a bargain there
Q: how big is the box its delivered in? i bought a double and the package weight states 36kg so i assume its pretty large/bulky…easily manageable?

      • +1

Hi Franco, the box for the King was the width of the mattress tall and about 500mm square. So I guess a Double would be 1380mm (the width of a double) x 500 x 500. It's tightly shrink wrapped in the box so will not bend. But it was heavy. I think the king is close to 50kg. We had to go round corners and up stairs. BUT it is not like moving a flat mattress, it's is heaps easier to get into a room etc. Two people will easily lift it.

I am not associated with zzz atelier, but if anyone has questions, I will try to help. I would have liked to find someone quiz about them when I was looking. I would have bought one sooner :-) I know what I was thinking at the time "how can a sub $300 mattress be any good?". Totally worth it for us.

        • thanks mossy….appreciate your input (& cunningham's)and im actually quite looking forward to it arriving monday and trying it out next week….have never tried one of these latex / foam types and have only had coil spring or futon in the past. the matress ive been on has just been to tide me over until something decent came along and im hoping that this $200 punt pays off…;)

        • @franco cozzo: To clarify, the one in the original post from OzPlaza.living is a full foam one. The one I bought, and have linked to from zzz.atelier, has springs.

        • @Mossy: ah yes….was referring to traditional metal coil spring mattresses….this is the first foam/latex pocket spring mattress ive tried…i didnt realise this was sprung with alloy coils. amazing they can vaccuum pack a bed like this!

this is the one i bought…same as the one you rec'd.
          https://www.zzzatelier.com.au/products/chiropedic-black-labe…

it arrived earlier today…have unpacked and now its decompressing….really good first impressions. thanks again moss :D

    • Is it a dumb question to ask why these mattresses are so much significantly cheaper than Koala mattresses?

      • their cost is 200 or less

        rest is revenue

        • So you're saying something like the mark up on Koala mattresses and other companies is extreme and zzzatelier are the good guys? If so, cool but just wanted to check as I thought I'd heard good things about Koala and similar companies.

        • +1

@hetzjagd: im pretty amazed at the quality of the zzz atelier construction & materials…proof will be in how it sleeps. 15 year warranty too… i think im buying another 2 for family if if this one performs

        • +1

          @hetzjagd:

koala and others, already put up a good competition against what's on the market

before mattress in the box, you'd pay double/triple from brick & mortar store.

ozplaza no need marketing or website or anything,
just ebay and pump out the sales qty with low margin.

zzzateliar has their main sales stream separate from ebay outlet.
hence the one on their web is similar pricing to other MITB, while the ebay outlet is low price without (or minimal) support and no marketing, but same product as what's sold on their web albeit oldler stock.

        • @phunkydude:
Thanks for getting back to me guys. I read these on the day and made my purchase as a result of them.

Another question…am I stupid as anything for looking at the example pictures and expecting that I was getting more than just a mattress? To clarify I mean, in the pictures, it's a mattress sitting on top of 'bunkie board'/bottom mattress that's a similar look and style as the one on top of it. The product description makes several mentions of a 'bed'.

I'm not unhappy because this seems like a good deal regardless (haven't slept on it yet) but boy I thought there must have been something I was missing as the price was so slow and I'm only just realizing it now

        • @hetzjagd: definitely sold as a mattress only….mattresses are generally only sold as mattress top only….you are referring to a base which is a separate purchase

if you purchased the chiro black then this is what you get.$729 direect from zzzatelier so the ebay deal was great (starting to sell out of sizes now)
          https://www.zzzatelier.com.au/products/chiropedic-black-labe…

up to 5th night of use and im really happy with mine ….either it has settled completely or i have gotten used to a decent bed again and am really resting well….2x more being delivered today. wish theyd bloody hurry up so i can go to the beach! :P

        • +1

          @hetzjagd:

          defo not included

          that's ensemble (mattress base)

you can use your old bed frame or get the usual slatted bed frame from ikea , etc.

        • Cheers guys, makes sense. I'm headed out to Ikea later to get some king size sheets and what not so I'll have a look at bed frames while I'm there. A quick scan on gumtree for my area had nothing

        • +1

          @hetzjagd:

if all fails, try the ebay $99 delivered for king slatted base on steel frame - not sure if sturdy

search king bed frame - sort price lowest

else, get some pallets from bunnings or warehouse, make sure it's clean and no chemical coded

        • @phunkydude:

Thank you for the suggestion, it sounds quite promosing. I appreciate your help

    That cat hates morning breath.

  • Doesn't ship to the NT. I really needed a new mattress.
