Just in-case you've only ever heard it said verbally it's 'mic' lol

Dammit! Normally I'm the spelling pedant in the room.

      • Turns out both mike and mic are commonly used, my bad!

    • Both mike and mic commonly appear as shortened forms of microphone, but mike is the accepted spelling in most dictionaries. Mic presents difficulties because it looks like it should be pronounced mick and because it produces the problematic participles miced and micing. Miked and miking work better. Of course, however the word is spelled, it is a verb mainly in the phrase mic/mike up, meaning to put a mic on someone or something.

      • Public opinion (as gleaned from Google search results), at any rate, seems to be firmly in the “mic” camp.

It was just an FYI. My father is an Amateur Radio buff and has always spelled it mike which is coincidentally part of his call sign and the abbreviated version of his first name Michael. However, I posted recently in the forum about smart phone headphone with in-line mic so I also agree that the consensus for retailers and internet posting is 'mic'. I'm not a spelling or grammar pedant. In this global world of the internet you will go insane eventually if you are :)

        • @bigpallooka: I replied because I have too much free time and didn't like that you cherry picked some info more in favour of mike. But yeah nah yeah yeah nah after living with some stubborn and disgusting people I've had to give up on trying to change anything LET ME HAVE THIS! Nah jk we cool everything's cool, it's a big ol' internet isn't it.
          Regards, Mike.
ps: do you ever finish typing something, then stop and think why the shit did I write any of this?

        • @SSX3: Yes. I often do. I often type full explanations about why someone else is wrong and I am right then review them and then delete them knowing that a forum comment is NOT the place to successfully sway someone and that it's just as likely that I don't really know what is behind a particular comment :D. In this case I copy and pasted verbatim what my google search brought up (the first half dozen results were all similar)as an FYI. I wasn't having a go at anyone just illustrating that from a certain perspective either or both are right so I figured it might stop an argument rather than start one especially as I have read it as written both ways over many years.

  • How much better are these than the Xiaomis ?

    • I wouldn't call them better at all.

    • last longer than xiaomis probs.

      SQ wise no better.

  • Is the sound quality better than the apple earbuds ?

    • Earpods or the old earbuds? Almost anything over $20 is better than the old earbuds. I'd get these if you want something cheap but decent, probably the best earphones under $30. The Senn CX are likely better but are over triple the price.

  • Sound quality was a disappointment with these. Picked them up for the mic and was hoping the quality would be at least as good as the cheaper CX300II's (US$25 Amazon), but not even close.
