  • Been reading that the Samsungs do much better HDR.

Samsung and Sony are pretty much on par for HDR with the higher end Sony models (9000E and above). Rtings has a pretty good round up for the best TV's in 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjkLt-QjPjU. I went with the 65 9000E in the end.

  • I was going to buy this a few weeks back until I saw Harvey Norman had the 9000 for 1750. It's meant to be much better and certainly has a great picture at home for 4K movies I've downloaded, Netflix, even fta and Foxtel is decent.

    • its all personal preference, yes the 9000E and 9300E are better TV's

But for what i want to use this for id rather pay cira $1200 for the 8500E, this wont be my main TV , the othes are around $1700-$1800

1200, fair enough. I thought this is almost 1500 though.

  • This or the 65N7 at around the same price?

    • That deal has expired I believe

      • Fair enough. How does this tv compare to the N7 in general?

    This or KFC?

    • Thanks. Now I'm thinking about getting KFC for lunch!

    • That's a lot of KFC!

    • Well this doesn't have hot and spicy, so I say KFC.

  • these were 1200 at sony a few days ago until they sold out…

  • Sony/Philips Android TV on mediaTek hardware don't support DTS /DD properly (yet).
You be disappointed if you intend to use Kodi with your AVR . Sony video player works but is a pain to use. My android tv seems to be actively crunching numbers at night. I can hear my HDD spin and sounds like a lot of read/write happening.
Rest is good for the price

    • I think the video player works great on my 9000. Hard drive plugged in the back with 4k movies loaded.
