  • 7.1 sound from 2 speakers, impressive technology.

Audio manufacturers really need to cut the bullshit.

We only have 2 ears, therefore the signals going to our brains are 2 mono signals - the same that headphones output - regardless of how many sound sources are around you. All positioning information depends on the differences between those 2 mono signals, so if you get the processing right, its certainly possible to get the brain to perceive the same positioning information as any number of speakers.

      • Maybe so.

Hate to use IGN but I could find others,

        http://m.au.ign.com/articles/2010/08/02/surround-sound-headp…

'While multiple drivers in the earcup or advanced processors can replicate the experience of surround sound, they cannot fully recreate the sense of physical distance nor the wide range of tones created by larger speakers.

I see this as activating surround mode on a TV or Soundbar.

      • Check this out for how your ears and brain work with sound and space http://www.wnyc.org/story/126833-adventures-3d-sound/
Interesting extension to surround headphones with just two speakers, where someone has now found a way to use stereo loudspeakers that can provide surround sound by cancelling the cross-talk between them both (Like having a set of headphones, the right ear is not receiving sound from the left headphone that would corrupt your perception of space and locating abilities). Maybe in the future I will not need the 9.2 surround speakers I currently have in my theater. Save a lot of money.

    Coming up as $54.95 delivered.

Not really a bargain when consider that the normal price on eBay is $53.95 delivered from Hong Kong.

Pretty much just a case of inflated RRP and now they've reduced it to what it actually should sell for.

yup cant wait for amazon to start selling over here and show 'em how low RRPs should be..

      • it’s not about rrp it’s about selling price, amazon won’t have lower rrp, actually some amazon rrps are high, but it’s about selling price.

also amazon will be paying gst in australia, a lot of the deals we are used to have come without gst as they are imports though sometimes high postage depending on size of the item.

for electrical goods, they will need AU power plugs and possibly even tick certification which means sourced from australian distributor so same source as good guys or HN.

will be interesting. if they stop shipments to australia from their usa site if they have the goods for sale here though at a higher price or simplify their gst hassles with the government.

      • Just buyer beware, Amazon is no different. There's plenty of stuff that are perpetually "on sale" but are actually what they're sold for on some retailer's more official stores.

  • Thanks OP! Popped into my local EB and grabbed one for the kids. They had them in stock and did them at the online price. $47 for local stock is great.

  • Anyone have trouble setting it up? When i installed the drivers it only plays on one side when using dolby.

  • Picked one of these up, thanks OP.

  • Will this work okay on an Xbox, or should I spend the extra pn a Rig 400/500?
