I have a theory that kinokuniya owns the galeries. How else does a book store the size of a hotel survive.
Could possibly be right but I'll take a stab at an alternative reason: It's a massive chain in Japan, probably the most prominent bookstore in Tokyo (Shinjuku) . Likely reason they stay open : They use the store in order to learn about the Oz market and have a relationship with publishers to supply stores around the world also They saw an opportunity to supply manga and supply the niche market.
Knew about this a week ago but nothing great so didn't post it. They had older titles and random volumes which they probably couldn't sell i.e air gear, fairy tail ice trail 2, d gray man 3 in 1 editions, magica madoka, can't remember anymore…
Was excited until I found out it's in Sydney …… I'm in Melbourne :-(
