American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card with Bonus 30,000 Rewards Points ($195 Annual Fee)

112

I came across this bonus offer on the PointsHacks website.

Follow the link on their website and score a bonus 30,000 rewards points by Dec 5th.

The current deal on the Amex website is for only 10,000 points.

I personally think this is one of the better amex cards that you can earn bonus points on petrol and at the supermarkets.

Cost is $195 a year which is offset by a yearly $200 travel credit.

If you transfer rewards points to a frequent flyer program its 1:1, not watered down. (Velocity have 15% bonus twice a year).

It states in the fineprint PointsHacks receives a $150 fee from American Express.

Best of luck. Cheers

There's a dedicated section for referral codes. Afaik yours shouldn't go in the description.

    • Thx, its been removed.

LOL, so OP provides a link to another site which offers 30k bonus points but then decides to put their own referral code which provides only 10k bonus points :)

Even if it was allowed to post your own referral code, which referral do you think people are going to click ?

LOL?? I removed it when it was pointed out to me. First time posting creditcard offer, sorry to disappoint. :)

Your comment is confusing. Bit harsh considering Ive had this card for 2 years and the yearly fee with travel credit is right.

I do not believe there are any Amex Platinum cards that have a $395 fee. You may be referring to the Explorer card

      • -4

That's the one, wasn't aware of the difference.

      • There were AMEX Platinum Reserve cards that have $395 fee ($295 through CPA/CA membership) but they discontinued.

Pretty good value if you eat out or travel often (3 points per $ spent at restaurants, 2 at hotels, airlines or overseas and 1 elsewhere. And it's Membership Reward, not Gateway). Also come with $400 travel credit, 2 lounges access per year, priority pass

Heres the current deal on the amex website showing that your wrong. Please remove your comment. Cheers

Umm the platinum edge has a $195 annual fee… So I think you're wrong

        • I stated in my post above yearly cost is $195. Hows that wrong?

    • No AMEX platinum card has a $395 annual fee with $400 travel voucher and 100K points on sign up. That would be the Explorer card. Note whilst you do get 100K points, it is part of the gateway program, not the ascent program when committing to a Platinum card. So they aren't exactly 1:1.

Thanks for the correction, I'm completely wrong in that regard.

  • New card holder only…

    • Also not eligible if in the last 18 months you've owned any amex issued card

      • Wow! That's harsh. OZb'd!

  • How come the referral is for DJ Card not Amex Platinum Edge Holders?

    • They are all there. The 1st 2 referrals in the system are shown by default. Hit the Show 10 More to see all of them.

      • Thanks neil

Note that this is a Point Hacks exclusive offer, so if you want the 30K you won't be able to use the OzBargain referral links.

That said, if you're not planning on churning Amex cards this is a great second card to hold for that 3 points per $ at supermarkets (which includes gift cards). By WISH eGiftCards at 5% off and use them for groceries and petrol. Haven't found a solution for Coles though.

If you don't meet the income limits for the cards that offer 100K bonuses (Explorer, Velocity Plat, Qantas Ultimate), this is also worth considering.

  • Current members aren't meant to be eligible, but are people finding they still get the points?

I got my Plat Edge through a referral after having another Amex, and did not get the points. This is still a neat card to hold long term if you don't want to churn amex for some reason.
