More than 4,000 plants from the City of Sydney's stunning floral display Living Colour will be given away free to the public this weekend.
Living Colour is a twice yearly floral exhibition which is 100% recycled, with all plants either given away, re-planted into City parks or composted.
The current Living Colour display has been on show for the past six weeks celebrating Art & About -bringing art out of galleries and onto our streets.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said; "These plants have added colour to our City for weeks and this is a great opportunity to grab free plants to brighten a garden bed or balcony.
Marigolds, Petunias and Thyme will be among the free plants available this weekend. Members of the public can pick up plants from the Cook + Phillip Park forecourt (only) in front of St Mary's Cathedral from 8am this Sunday morning 14th November. A number of plants will also be available from neighbourhood centres at Glebe, Redfern and Kings Cross, Town Hall House. Only while stocks last.
Large plants and perennial plants will be re-planted in the City's parks, while plants not suitable for giving away or replanting are composted into a high quality soil mix for re-use in the City's parks and gardens around Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Woolloomooloo.
Seven of the current Living Colour displays are being extended for another month because the plants are still thriving. Plants at these locations cannot be removed during this time.
